It's a shame if he's on the way down, as his way of thinking and playing about football - as a disciple of Total Football - has been so good to watch and learn from since 2008. He and Barca clearly created a demarcation point between football pre them (since about the 80s) and after them. They've influenced so much.
Hopefully he can bounce back, but if not, he's secured his legacy anyway. But if possession football is on the way out for a while (it goes in cycles) he has a huge problem as he isn't built to play any other way.
It's a bit ironic too if his protege Arteta plays a huge part in his downfall.
