Pep Guardiola

It is the 4th best squad in the league IMO, and could be worse if they didn't have Halaand who is a top 2 strikers in the world.

But so far, it feels like Pep's cycle in City is over tbh. I think he should have left after 2024 season.

He might turn things around, many said the same about SAF around 05/06 and the rest is a history. But I think it is highly unlikely, as SAF was more fundamentalist type rather than innovative Pep is.

What's going on here? maybe there's just not enough brilliant players in football anymore.

In the past they targeted brilliant players (for example Toure), or up and coming players ready to explode ( for example KDB).

Nowadays they're going after 'decent mid-table players'. Mid table players can step up but you need to balance it with proven quality too.

Quit blaming poor lineup decisions on players smfh.

It's partly the system and partly the players. You think loads of players are good who aren't and lazily just blame 'the system' and alleviate them of all responsibility. It's a mix of both.

Do you reckon those players are as good as the players they had previously? Which of this list gets into their title winning teams?

Marmoush, Reis, Khusanov, Gonzalez, Reijnders, Ait Nouri, Cherki, Trafford

You're also gonna get a rude awakening with Amorim when he is sacked, the next guy comes in, and United are still nowhere near challenging.

He definitely should have left, but let's see what he can do.

They need a CB which they didn't get and the Right side of the field with Lewis and bob, isn't going to win you anything.

Both are talented but not good enough to start for a team going for the big titles.

That and he needs to give his wingers more freedom.

But I don't think they have the 4th best squad, still at #2, 3 at worse

Emerson

RB stones Diaz nouri

Rodri Reijnders

Cherski---foden---marmoush

Haaland

Would be my starting XI, foden and Cherki can swap, that's a XI that can win the league if pep is being pep.

Also sell haaland & hijack the isak deal

The bench does need a bit of work but is solid

Ham's starters who need benched: Dalot, Mount, Bruno, Shaw, Cas literally half the team.

Zirks, Mainoo, Kone, Heaven need to be replacing them.

They have top four squad with a good manager.

I agree those first players are poor, but Not a chance in my opinion. We will see. Heard all this before from other posters on other forums with their past teams. The penny still hasn't dropped for guys like you that they're finito.

None of those four players you mention are anything special, either. Certainly far from top four level. Heaven is a kid who has been playing pro football 10 minutes and you're already acting like he's a superstar.

They get played through in the middle of the park too easily, they are prone to errors defensively, and their finishing is appalling. Consistent themes through multiple managers, particularly the most recent two.

Ten Hag was meant to be that 'good manager'. Amorim was then meant to be that 'good manager'. They're finished as a club.

1) His time is over at City. This was evident last year.

2) The team invested so much only to look worse. Nobody even knows who half these players (who were signed for big money) are.
