Ousmane Dembélé

Yeah the bias against Dembele for ballon d'or because he doesn't play "pure football" or something is clear. It might just be motivated by the agenda against Ronaldo, but some say Ribery deserved it in 2013. Dembele this season was better and more important to PSG than Ribery was to Bayern.

There's been claims that PSG was more of a team effort, yet Dembele still scored or assisted 7 of the 16 goals PSG scored in the knockout stages while Ribery only contributed 2 of the 16 Bayern scored that season. Dembele also scored or assisted in every round while Ribery didn't get a goal contribution until the 7th goal against Barca in the semifinals. Dembele's performance in the final was also better than Ribery and he had more g/a for the season.

Ribery's technical ability was obviously better, but Dembele's directness and pressing off the ball shouldn't be underestimated either.
Dembele's talent and ability is amazing too. He's anything but a G/A merchant. Dembele isn't Raphinha. He has always been a considered a very talented player.

His dribbling is absolutely sensational and he glides past defenders for fun.

Come on mate - while I agree Dembele has been excellent and am impressed by his improvement at PSG (you make good points there), you know as well as I do that you cannot reduce Ribery to numbers.

Not even venturing an opinion on Ribery v Ronaldo that year - just saying that it's a bad faith argument to talk about Ribery in goal and assist terms as he was so much more than that in open play that season (and his career in general). And I think you know that.
I think the point is whether Dembele's push for the Ballon d'Or is valid or not, and if you check, it's very valid. His imprint in PSG winning 4 cups this season is obvious. He's got 14 g/a in 15 UCL games, 27g/a in 29 league games, 4 g/a in 4 Coupe de France games and 1 g/a in 1 Trophees des Champions.

He deserves to win it, cause his team won everything, and he was key in all competitions. If Barca won everything, then it would be Raphinha for Ballon D'or

Id rather see Yamal or Pedri win it if Barca had won everything, but I agree on Dembele.

No aura. Still looks like a clown.

His teammate Hakimi refused to celebrate his goal in the CL final out of respect for his former club with whom he was for a meagre one year.

This dude despite staying with Barca for 6 years celebrated against us in a CL quarterfinal like he had already won CL and WC put together.

Actions are greater than words. All these sweet-nothings abt Barca now won't make a difference.

The only ones frothing about his aura are the trolls trying to wind up Barça/Messi fans.

He could have done it in the heat of emotion, simply forgetting.

Dembele is a sincere guy. And he openly says that Barcelona is his dream club and he loves this club. I believe it.

By the way, Suarez also celebrated the goal against Liverpool. Do you think he is a clown too?
