He received the ball with acres of spaces in front of him, played a good pass to Messi, who played a good pass back and he whiffed the shot like a 4th division player.

Not sure how he created it all by himself and how it makes the missed chance any better even if he did.

Being injured is no excuse and is a big negative when talking about which player is better or not. If you cannot be relied upon when the team needs you that's a negative.

One of the reasons Messi and CR7 to his credit were so immense the last decade is also because they rarely were injured.
