Probably not.
Don't compare him to Messi. We might not see another Messi in next 50 years or so. In the meantime when the field is clear he might be #1.
Neymar's game relies a lot on his speed and players who tend to do that peak a lot earlier than normal. He may have already peaked or may do so in the coming year or two. I don't see him surpassing Messi in that time period and in 3-4 years there will be another talent like there always is and Neymar will fade out into his thirties. If he wants to be the best he maybe has a window of 1-2 years if that.

Anyone signing Neymar had to pay his father that as they had set up own company that owned part of his registration.
From the leaked doc that said it was of Reals offer to Neymar I think it was around 65m it said going to Ney Snr company.
That is assumed the leaked doc is accurate.

There was a doc that surfaced a few years ago that was said to be a copy of the offer Real put in for Neymar.
There is no way his father accepted less from Real for his part regardless.

Only thing I can find is Neymar's contract with Barca leaked and a story about RM wanting to pay Santos 60m in 2011.

Not just the straight 40 million euros. That alone was probably not the problem. Also, and especially, all the shady deals with his father that according to the board weren't part of the deal and were not included in Neymar's contract, but were made ad hoc, precisely with his father, while we were signing his son. What a coincidence! Those were obvious payments in disguise for signing him, like the 2 million he gets every year as talent scout (that could explain why we're signing Brazilian players every year, more money to him via commission?) or another 4 million for Neymar & Neymar to promote the player's image rights. And of course, all the money we saved from taxes (ahem...) for doing things this way.

There was a leaked doc that broke down Reals offer.
Can remember seeing it and it being discussed at time.
No idea if it was real.
The part about paying his father had to be done to get him due to way he was owned.
