Martín Zubimendi

Makes sense that the Basque coach wants a double pivot of Basque midfielders, it was no party without Partey facing Vitinha

The irony is that Arsenal missed out on him last season because they balked at the fee, now they pay it in full a year later for a player who is one year older

Same shit every season but now seriously...

If Arsenal signs a left winger and a good striker I think they could actually challenge for the title in England

Zubimendi is a good signing

Zubimendi is a good player. A controller kind of a player.

I have a tinge of fear his style might not suit the faster paced and overtly physical EPL though unless he is great at adaptation or Arteta finds a way to accomodate his slower control based actions into how Arsenal plays.

Zubamendi, should he adapt to the PL, is the perfect foil for Rice. Rice's strengths are his ball carrying ability, engine and physicality. He's never been good at taking the ball from defenders and playing positive passes to help break the lines of opponents. It's one of the reasons why England have fell short in recent history, as Southgate has always used him as a 6. But he's an 8. A box to box, all action midfielder.

Right now the closest England have to an ideal number 6 is Adam Wharton. He's got tons of potential, but needs a big move soon.

Is Zubimendi good at throw-ins?

Can he push his own player into his oppositions player well at a corner?

Does he know how to consistently hit the ball into the defenders to win throw-ins and corners?

If not, no point signing for Arsenal.
