They also payed a massive wage to Falcao, though they were smart enough to see it wouldnt work out. Either hes using us to get a new deal or he actually wants to leave and you wont sell he would be in the same position as De gea who you would get next year anyway so no need to leverage, its not that far from being realistic as opposed to say Bale or Fabregas, there was/is smoke at least.

I did say i think we have done great business this window, if signing regular big money players to the detriment of the team was to become a thing then yeah it would bother me a lot, they hardly ever work out for us anyway. If it is the odd one mingled with players like Depay, Schneiderlin and Darmian it would be fine. I would say Shaw and Depay is looking to the future who could be pretty big and with the second lowest average age in the league its not like its an old squad the team is lacking experience of the top level with all the new signings. Consider though if we do possess the next big thing in a lot of cases they just move abroad case in point, De gea, we cant just buy a Neymar and sit back as he finishes his career with us. If Depay suddenly starts banging in 20 a season how long is he likely going to stay, unless they are English its a big problem, even then its a fight between us shitty and Chelsea. Tbh im really glad Woodward/LVG is being stubborn with De gea if thats actually the case, at least hold players to contracts. We shouldnt keep bending over to you Iberians every time a special player comes without a fight

De Gea signed a contract to play for United for a set number of years and there's nothing wrong with deciding he wants to leave at the end.
I agree with you in that regard in de gea honoring his contract he's been 100% professional. He's from Spain he misses home, so go home by all means. I just don't think he should play for Real Madrid. It wasn't to long ago he said he would at the end of his career "return to athletico", I can understand why Man utd fans will feel hard done by.

I remeber de gea's 1st ever game in england. I was there and at half time Man Utd were 2-0 down against Man city, both goals were the fault of de gea. He then made a mistake in the subsequent game after, and in truth made mistakes all season through across the board. Man utd lost the league that year, and if there were 3 reasons why they lost it he would be one of them.


The point is during that game and all the games after, the Man utd fans and Sir Alex supported and protected him and now 2 years later when he is doing good and Man utd is rebuilding he wants to leave. He's entitled to leave but in some cultures this is defined as "asshole" like behavior. The very least he could do is allow the club to get a fair sum for his services.


It is so easy to say "he would of got there anyway" when they are already a star, but let's not forget the 100's of other footballers with bags of unfullfiled potential...

Yes, the ideal thing for him to do from Man Utd's perspective would be if he signed a contract and forced Real Madrid to pay a large sum, but maybe that's not an option for him and Real Madrid will just ditch the negotiations altogether if he signed a new contract, we don't know what's going on behind the scenes. He's not gonna do something that sabotages a transfer if he wants a move. We don't really know what's going on exactly, what we do know is that De Gea has been an absolute professional about this, respecting the club by not saying anything publicly and still performing like he belongs to the club. And as far as what the fans can see, I don't think he deserves any stick for this whole saga.

Regarding his tough start in England, I think when a promising young goalkeeper with the potential to be the best goalkeeper in the world has a nervous start in a new country, getting support from the manager and fans is something that's expected. Let's not pretend the fans saved his career, he didn't start performing better because of the fans, he did it because of his own hard work. I respect Manchester United fans for supporting him when he went through a rough patch but I don't think he owes anything to the club because of that.

United have one of the youngest squads in the Premier League though. Fair enough you aren't a United fan so you'd have no reason to no the finer nuances of our team but the future is bright with the youngsters we have. Pereira, Januzaj, Lingard, Wilson, Depay, Shaw and maybe Mcnair are, for me, all good enough to be getting game time this season and turning into very good players players this season (and some of them already are). Not that the others are much older though with Darmian, Smalling, Jones, Mata, Schneiderlin, De Gea (big IF), Herrera, etc all still quite young too. Nothing wrong with mixing that with some more big named experienced players. We can more than afford to buy some players with no resale value.

Out of form Di Maria was our most creative player last season statistically so I'm not too confident about us creating too many Chances. Depay scored 28 last season but his assists stat was below 5,Mata and Rooney are finishers more than creators and Herrera will be out of the starting XI looking at how we've lined up in pre season..

This is a fair post. However, he is letting Manchester United get a fair sum by leaving this summer. Mind you, Van Gaal didn't speak of him well this season, had the manager been more respectful or mindful of his words towards DDG, you would have been in a better position. If he felt home sick, he surely did after the pressure put on him by Van Gaal.
