I'm trying to imagine Giuly in our current side, taking into account the standards which we managed to create for the players.

Sorry, I can't imagine it.

I can do it. Just look at Sanchez

Buy a player with pace.
Never use pace.

Ludovic Giuly faced numerous financial difficulties at the end of his career. After noticing some inconsistencies in his past contracts and financial investments, the former player for teams such as FC Barcelona, AS Monaco, AS Roma, Olympique Lyonnais, and PSG decided to become a consultant to prevent what happened to him from happening to other professional players when they decide to retire.

Now, the Frenchman owns a company that focuses on "supporting the player, but I'm not an agent. Above all, I help them financially after their careers."

"Nowadays, a player at a big club can't end up ruined. And 50-60% of players, five years after retirement, end up ruined. Nobody says it because they're ashamed. I'm not ashamed, and I'm saying it: I was robbed and I didn't pay attention. It's my responsibility," Giuly says in an interview with Colinterview and Oh My Goal from the Ludovic Giuly Stadium in Lyon. "The pace of life we have, when we're players, is incredible. Better, but you have 30 or 40 years to live afterward. How do you do it if you have the same pace of life? You die. And nobody tells you. Because when you're done... the agents, the family, etc., everything disappears overnight."

In his critique, Giuly highlights the commission agents and various people in the environment who only want to take advantage of footballers' limited financial knowledge. "I have loans... at 12%! It's crazy," he comments.

"If you won the lottery tomorrow, would you be used to it? You're wasteful, like everyone else. Your lifestyle is going to change," the former winger reflects to the interviewer.

Also talked about his Barca period. Good player, always liked him.

"You have the pressure of everyone watching. Ronaldinho and Deco throw you tricky balls to annoy you and laugh at you. It wasn't fun. They did it for fun, but the coach destroyed me. It was tough in the sense that you have to tell yourself: 'You have to focus and perform,'" said the Frenchman, although he doesn't regret everything he went through. "I had a very specific role, and tactically, there were no problems for me. I had to stay on the wing. In the end, the adaptation was good because the group was extraordinary. There were players I knew from France and there were incredible Spaniards like Xavi, Iniesta, Puyol, and Valdés. They were phenomenal and they welcomed me."

Regarding competition, Giuly stated that he already knew he would have to deal with it when Larsson arrived, but he found something extraordinary when Messi burst onto the scene: "When you arrive at Barcelona, you already know there's competition. With Larsson, it was healthy competition, and there were no conflicts within the group because it was the coach who made the decisions. And when you win, all that helps."

"When Messi arrived in my third year, I did feel a bit of pressure. Rijkaard spoke to me to tell me that Messi was pushing, improving in training, and that he's going to put him in in January. And I was a little surprised by how I was playing, but when you see what he does on the pitch, you realize you're not going to play much. The 17-year-old is a phenomenon, and I have one year left on my contract. You applaud, but you want to play. And at the end of the season, I decided to leave because I wanted to play. Maybe it wasn't the right decision, and I could have stayed, played alongside Leo, and made a bigger career at a legendary club. In the end, I don't think it was a bad decision for me; it wasn't easy, and my ego speaks to me. Although I could have made another decision to go to Italy. Not for Roma, because it's an extraordinary club, but for the league. Maybe the Premier League would have been better. I regret never having played in England," he said.
