Kounde cannot defend 1v1 and is slow footed. Shows it against just about any decent wide player and makers howlers positionally and on ball regularly.
Good on Kounde 'playing a world cup final'.

Kounde is also the fullback with best end product in the team in bigger games btw.

Garcia scored in CL semi final from RB.. scored in La Liga decider from RB v Real.
And barely played there.

That's true. Garcia is probably 2nd best defender.
Ideally best place for Cubarsi and Balde would be the bench.
If Cancelo is any good he will easily bench current Balde. But we are still left with a mediocre defender. Cubarsi, Araujo, or Martin, pick your poison.

As for 'big games'.. Balde who can barely cross a ball has more goals/assists v Real than Kounde.
Dont let truth get in the way though.

If that header by Kounde drops on the other side of the goal line, Cancelo did more vs Sociedad than Balde all game.
Balde is totally overrated offensively and not much to look at defensively. One footed, limited IQ. All he has is some pace to beat a man, but the follow up is almost always shite. Cancelo would have to be utterly incompetent in defense not to start. The bad news is, he might be.

Aye terrible miss from Kounde.
Similar to his fumble v Real to take points off them away.
Balde is poor in final third... not breaking news.
Just like it is not breakling news Kounde makes huge errors on ball near on every game and cant defend 1v1.

And yet, he was superb vs Madrid in both Supercup and Cup final. Amazing assist, key winning goal, saving the CBs several times in ET...
Even this season. Great assist for Rashford vs Newcastle... 2 goals vs Frankfurt. Kounde shows up in bigger games.
I'd rather have a player that raises his level in bigger games, even if he is prone to some issues vs lesser teams.

Against Madrid in Cup Final his man scored from corner... and wasnt great but top goal.
He wasnt saving anyone in ET.

Same game Vini took him to cleaners and scored as loves to play against him in that Supercup.
