Watching this again Barca were trying something different on picking up the full backs when attacking.

Wonder if this was brought on by PSG game and how much Real use theirs.

Looked like when ball went to opposition full back the attacking players didnt follow them but the Barca full backs pushed up to them early to mark while the attacking players went narrower to prevent easier balls into midfield.

Almost like let them have the ball in areas can try to control the next action as opposed to trying to close them down and follow in a frenzied/chaotic situation.

It actually worked well enough for most part.

Barca really didnt play that badly yesterday all things considered.

Shaky with balls into box and quick counters still but tactically were decent enough.

Barca win that game if have calmer head in final third.

Would love to have seen Yamal in at AM while game was open. They were leaving Fermin wide open in that area at expense of closing Pedri/FDJ and the wide players.

There is scope for a fluid front 4 for Barca if Rashford/Yamal and Raphinha all play.

Can move about to different roles as see fit v opposition.

In reality, you are down two goals in first 12 minutes without VAR intervention.

Scandalous penalty, as is customary for them. No other team in the world gets that. Luckily Tek denied the corruption.

Customary red card for opposition? Check.

Clear elbow and foul on Cubarsi for the winner.

Should have been a penalty at the end there on Araujo as well.

Made out they were the victims because they weren't allowed to score 2 offside goals despite getting another scandalous penalty and red card for the opposition.

Standard stuff at the home of Ocean's 11.

I wonder out of 11 people who voted for RM, how many of them did it for jinx?

No way most of Barca forum would vote for a defeat against eternal enemies.

Game was okay, couldnt watch it, saw the highlights.

Expecting to compete with cubarsi and garcia as cb is moronic. Add to that kounde who played like a drunken pirate, you get what you get.
Maybe we should try again with fdj in back, because without inigo our backline is crippled. christensen is not someone you can trust tp build on. Araujo is.. wild.

At least with fdj you get press resistant cb who can carry the ball out.

Kudos to flick for making people believe that garcia and cubarsi are decent cb pair

While I agree Cubarsi and Eric are nowhere near good enough, with our ludicrous style and system it wouldn't matter if we had 2x VVD st the back, because we are inviting Mbappe to run behind and latch on to easy through balls.

You'd think a manager would want to minimise opponents strengths (pace) and reduce our own weaknesses (pace) and yet we go out there eager to do the exact opposite. Highlight the opponents strengths and exacerbate our weaknesses. Madness.

What an utter ridiculous statement towards an 18 year old, who was a clear starter in last season's domestic treble and is one of the most valued CBs in the world. Some people should better stay out of forums and return back to the Muppets on Facebook and Twitter to keep hyping / insulting players according to their last game.

Of course they do get a penalty for handball. Its just you being obtuse about it.

Oh my. 90+10 red card after a bad foul. Shocking. Customary indeed.

Actually it was a whole forearm. Not surprising considering Cubarsi was late to the challenge and jumped directly into Huijsen from the side. Now either you fumble away - depends on the force and end up on the ground, or your body tilts toward the force and your arms come down naturally. Reminds me Cule favorite Hernandez disallowed a goal when Alba jumped into Bale`s crotch. Lmfao!

Should have sure. Until situation changes, and its the usual day in the Araujo office, who should give away at least 5 penalties per match, if that was called.

So, if i understand you correctly: A corrupt pro Madrid ref and pro Madrid VAR, wasted opportunity to give 2:0 lead to Madrid in first 12 minutes and pretty much seal the game for Madrid, and wait until 42` when their RM DNA kicks in.

You are my favorite poster Don.

Frenkie is the only powerhouse in this list. Meanwhile:

Carvajal ACL for most of the season.
MIlitao with his second ACL for the most of the season.
Mendy out for most of the season due to muscle related injuries.
Alaba ACL in 23/24, and being a non-factor for 24/25 due to injuries.
Rudiger playing injured for a couple of months with knee problems.

That˙s just defense.

Rudiger played 55 games. New rules though for anyone who has issues is it?

Mendy missed one league game through injury before the 15th of March and wasnt the set starter in that time.
