I am still a little surprised as to why our team is having so many physicaly struggles this season. We did not play CWC while other teams did. Something wrong with our training/fitness/diet/sleep routine or are these players softer than the ones in EPL and RM?

The struggles come from athleticism issues of most of our players. Few players in this team can play with full intensity for 90 mins for 2 consecutive seasons while playing almost every game.

La Masia is not reknown for producing physically impressive players, which is fundamental for Flick ball and modern football in general. That type of quality should come from high level acquisitions, which are expensive. Which is why signings like Ferran or Olmo are a bit problematic when on lower funds. You should aim for tougher, faster, stronger, more fit players.

Look at how much we miss Raphinha. He is the only player we have who is very much an elite athlete from top to bottom, both physically and mentally.

Raph was up in the air anyway and would have maybe played 25 min. Kounde hasn't been in good form. Frenkie would have been a worse loss IMO. I'd favor them at this point but it's not hopeless IMO. Our pivots are better obviously, Fermin helps the press and continues great form, shark pops out, Rash knocks a ripper, winning isn't impossible.

We don't have subs. It comes down to first sixty minutes. Try to win the game then and park the bus.

Marcus Sorg's press-conference ahead of the El Clàsico tomorrow:

“It’s an honor to be on the bench tomorrow, it’s a special occasion. It’s important that we show our strengths, especially in the high press.”

“We will see if Ferran can start tomorrow. It's something we will decide upon tomorrow.”

“Hansi Flick is the most important part of the team, but we have to manage the situation. We’ll give our 100% tomorrow.”

Lamine said Madrid “steals” and “complains about referees.” Do you think that could affect him or serve as extra motivation? Marcus Sorg: “Lamine is a top-class player, and I think this will serve as extra motivation for him. We all hope to see him at his best tomorrow.”

“Yes, Jules Kounde trained this morning. We’ll have to see how his body reacts after the session, and if he’s ready to play, of course he’ll play.”

“If we want to win at the Bernabéu, we need to avoid losing the ball. We must stay compact and work as a team.”

“Lamine vs Alvaro Carreras duel? Lamine is always motivated. If I remember correctly, we’ve won every match against Benfica where Alvaro was playing.”

edit:
“We have to do our job well, press and keep the high line. If we change that, we’ll lose our structure, and that won’t help.”

Marcus Sorg on Flick’s absence again. : “It’s (his presence) very important because the players have confidence in him.”

“In these matches, it’s 50/50. Whoever plays better will win, it’s that simple.”

“Flick is motivated and in good spirits.”

“Normally, it’s better to play with the same lineup, but we’ve had many injuries, so we’ve had to make changes. When you play 60 matches a year, it’s impossible to always keep the same players.”

Marcus Sorg on what threat can Madrid actually offer: “The biggest change is that they press very well, especially in the attacking line.”

“At the Bernabéu, you never know what might happen. There are many emotions, and we’re ready for them.”

Starting XI has to win this as there are literally no options on the bench.

I have my doubts though because without Inigo Mbappe will expose the high line.

I have money on Rashford bagging at least 2 goals. Think he will be our biggest threat up front. Lamine too distracted recently with Niki and social media.
