Mbappe was not great either.
He wasn't and I'm no fan but he at least did a couple of things. I always said as soon as he was made the 9 that RM would struggle. Because the same reason as Barca did even with Suarez/Ney/Leo

No height in the box no header presence. Now it's Vini/Mbappe/X player and none of them offer anything in the box. (Except Gonzalo Garca who low key will be a good 9 if they ever realize it)

They also only had 2 weeks of preparation, so don't relax yet. They can always find their form mid-season. And LaLiga got a lot worse this season, since Tebas forcing half the clubs to sell their best players, so they'll probably win more games only thanks to skill difference.

That said, we're leading LaLiga after the first matchday. Let's not lose it until the end.

You're welcome
Dare I say “This time it’s different”?

I have never put stock in Madrid’s early games form and always felt they’d find form.

But looking yesterday it seems the quality is just not good enough. Also how slow Real looked was a bit shocking. I think they still lack leaders. They only have Valverde for that role. Bellingham will be out for another 4 months.

Will this be approached as a rebuilding phase? Seems they miss 1-2 players and have to go on market.

Do they have a lot of other injured?

I think their only salvation would be Alonso realizes “screw good footy, haramball it is”

According to MARCA and Radio MARCA, Juan Cruz is Rayo Vallecano's priority target between now and the transfer window closes, to the point that any transfer transaction has been put on hold until the final outcome of Juan's future is known. The Pepinero number 10 receives weekly calls from Íñigo Pérez to reiterate his full confidence and make it clear that he wants to keep him at all costs.

However, the situation of the former Málaga and Betis player has gone further. The Quilmes native will soon be a father, forcing him to leave Leganés' preseason training camp. A moment of personal happiness that the Pepinero winger is unable to enjoy. A context of extreme tension, worry, and anxiety that has led him to consider making drastic decisions. Direct sources involved in the negotiations assure MARCA and Radio MARCA that the Argentine is seriously considering requesting paternity leave from Leganés, a situation never seen before in Spain for a professional footballer. The situation is critical, and Leganés is forced to make a move.

They barely had pre-season and do have a new coach. Wouldn't look too much into anything until October.

They are stronger on paper and should be more motivated than last season. Nevermind the refs who will be pushing even more to help papa Perez.

Flick has a hard task in front of him and defending the title is always harder anyway.

Mbappe was not great either.

Mbappe with that hair looked like when you watch an Al Pacino or Tom Hanks movie and they CGI them to make them look younger.

Now I know why the VAR AI hire is a Real Madrid fanatic. His actual task is to make Vinicius like 25 years old on the replays.

The picture is misleading. I rewatched the scene. He makes a jump to play the ball with the heel, that's the photo. Then he lands and the defender hits him. It's a clear penalty.

Here, watch it with 0.5 speed, minute 2:00. Of course Mbappe falls down like a tree being cut, but most of the strikers would do it too.
