Kylian Mbappé

A level above any other forward in Madrid. Him and Bellingham are their two best attacking options, if they were smart would build around them and sell the two Brazilians for huge money.

They need to build the team around Mbappe and play him on the left. I don't think they have the guts to do it though with their Brazilian crybaby. And truth be told it's a tough decision given their recent success.

Selling Vini in his prime would be dangerous, they built the team around him & Bellingham and has great success and he was pivotal in years before that.

Plus only SA can afford him.

What they should have done is just not sign mbappe, but now that he's already there, they have to make the best of both of at least try to for 2/3 seasons.

Wilk be interesting to see what Alonso does to make all 3 work

Madrid fans always use “Mbappe is not playing his natural position of LW” as an excuse. But anyone actually checked the stats of which positions he played and how much?

He did the France carry job(they did have a great team tbf) playing on RW.

And at this point has played no.9 275 games vs LW 83 games.

He has played the 9 position more than 3 times now.

Also, he has a better goalscoring and assist rate on 9 vs LW.

I am not saying he will not improve on LW.

But maybe not a guaranteed success as much as some madrid fans think it would be.
Some pretend it’s the make or break for Real. And probably think big reason as to this season turning out as disappointment.
I suspect a bit of hopium and copium consumption in there as well.

Even when he plays as LW, he moves more centrally and became a second striker. He is LW just on paper, a bit like older version of Messi & Cristiano who played behind strikers but wvery pregame charts listed them on the wings.

For it to happen they need a world class attacking LB, and a number 9 that prefers to play for the wingers rather than being the goal scorer (Giroud, Benzema and Morata are players who could do that). Essentially a different team and system to make him a false winger.

Interesting point.

Are there analyses on this? Would like to use it as ammo in future discussions with madrid fans.
