Kaka

He was brilliant in his prime. I remember first hearing about him in a newspaper before Japan/South Korea (how he was a 'throwback' to the Brazilian flair of old, yes even in 2002 with Rivaldo, Ronaldinho and Ronaldo they were complaining about being too functional) and being gutted he barely played any football in that tournament because of his age and the players ahead of him.

Loved this version of Kaka in the national team when all the plays go through him.

The last of prime Kaka

He was never someone fit for Brazil team. In fact his career with national team is so forgettable that most people don't even mention it.

Ronaldinho deserved to play in 2010 WC, ahead of Kaka imo.

Ronaldinho in 09/10 season: 34 GAs

Kaka in 09/10: 21 GAs

Stats by trasnfermarkt.

Dinho was way better than Kaka in 09/10 season. Just that Dunga didn't want to change the squad he used in qualification.

Look at this level of playmaking/passing. Kaka never reached that.

Kaka was pretty much irrelevant for Brazil national team.

Yea I agree, kaka for Brazilian was a mess.

He and playing a old Ronaldo is the primary reason they didn't win the world cup in I think it was 2006.

Coach was an idiot, like dunga was in 2010.

Yeah in 2006 they kept talking about their quintet of attacking talent - Robinho, Ronaldo, Adriano, Ronaldinho and Kaka.

Can you imagine trying to line those 5 up in a team in the present day against pressing monster teams :lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

l Few coaching decisions as ever pissed me off more than 2006 Brazil, freaking magic square lol.

It can be done, but you don't play Ronaldinho who was by far the best player in the world going into the WC as efficiently a CM.

Just to facilitate kaka who is an infinity inferior player to dinho, as good as kaka was, he's no Ronaldinho.

Plus two men who can't run as striker, robinho should have played for adriano, really for Ronaldo but since that ain't happening, adriano it is.

Juninho replaces kaka, the DMs fit backs, the fullbacks and proper front 3 Destroys the opposition, Juninho is there to help recycle possession.

Odds are the win the world cup.

Brazil had a lot of terrible NT coaches the last couple of decades or so.

Tite's been their best since Scolari I guess in 2002, but his team kept choking in big moments vs. Belgium and Croatia.

Yeah they have DonAK.

I was thinking that for all the talk of their decline in talent, they do have a lot of good/very good players and some real prospects who could be absolutely brilliant (Estevao for example).

There's nobody like the three Rs but hardly any other countries have that level of talent either (maybe just Yamal). They still have a lot of quality players, they're just coached poorly and their FA is a disaster.

Regardless, after the 2026 World Cup I think we will be talking about how it's gonna be 28 years minimum for them before they lift the trophy. It's a shame because even though I have always preferred Argentina, Brazil is special to football fans and they shouldn't go this long without winning the World Cup. They did from 1970 to 1994 but they got over the line. I genuinely think we could get to 2046 with them not having won another World Cup. France have been in four of the last seven finals, and the likes of they (even only on two right now), Germany or Argentina could surpass Brazil's record in the next 20 to 40 years if Brazil don't get their act together.

The Magic Square was a huge mistake. R9 shouldn't have been a starter.

They should have kept the 3-4-2-1 for the WC06 and even with the WC10.

Would have played something like this for WC06

-------------------------Adriano
-----------------Ronaldinho-----Kaka
Roberto Carlos--Emerson-----Ze Roberto----Cafu
-----------Lucio---------Luisao-------Juan
---------------------------Dida
