They were close to sign him in January but after Zidane returned he prefered Mendy.

Was going to say this.

Possibly the injury history played a factor as Madrid are in need of an undisputed starter.

That and they bought a similar(ish) profile of a breakout LaLiga starter a few seasons back with Theo (suspect defensive, great offense although less skilful on the ball than Firpo) and we all saw how that worked out.

Man, do we have some nice depth on this roster. Attack, midfield and now defensively we’re getting there in terms of depth.

Next summer: CB (backup with long term potential) and striker/forward (depending on who leaves).

Now watch how Valverde will ruin this team in the next couple of months. Barcaforum will than start to blame players for not performing well. It will be the same story we had last year only with a better team this time.
