The question is, which Presidential candidate is going to try and get the gang back together?

Our version of The Last Dance, call it The Last Asado.

Now that you mentioned it I noticed rumours about Messi coming back to endorse potential presidential candidate in opposition to Laporta. Didn't take it seriously as I can't imagine him being involved in such a drama. Doesn't seem in his character.

But who knows. Think it would be great if someone emerged.

Balde should hire him as his personal coach. He has the physical abilities, just needs Alba's guidance for the last pass.

Alba was never great at giving the last pass, he improved a little as the years got on but mostly it was only because of the chemistry with Messi where Leo did 80% of the work anyway.

One of my least favourite players in the golden decade and probably the weakest link in the post Pep Barca for a lot of years (only the gk was always worst), don't miss him one bit.

Just watched the extended highlights, I've said it before but Alba could still be playing football at the highest level in Europe.

The slow speed in the MLS tricks your perception. The amigos stopped competing on the highest level around the time Covid started, or even a bit before. Alba had already no confidence during the shameful night in Liverpool 2019, where he cried at half-time. Messi was the only one, who could make up for his declining speed with his skills, but the other players had clearly difficulties to compete in the highest CL games around that time already.

Alba was still very serviceable in his last year here, you could argue he could have continued in Europe in lower level team, like a midtable liga club.

I mean if Marcos Alonso is still getting minutes there, so could have Alba.

However, it isn't for every player preference to do that. Sometimes it is better to enjoy being a force in a lower lever league than keep hustling in bigger ones.

And this isn't just for older players, even younger ones. The likes of Samper, Puig or Unai Hernandez , Collado. They did great for themselves in different leagues, would it been better to have a career like Carles Alena and just stay in Spain.
