Start Balde at LB and fire Alba to LW the next game.

Back to his Valencia days when pivoted there with Mathieu.

At least would provide pace and one thing know he can do is time his runs.

Team will be fucked as long as opponents know no threat of pace in behind.

Fucked up as it is.. But at least sounds like a plan to me! I don't remember the last manager who tried this with alba. Was it Enrique or pep?

Nice suggestion, and I get the reason behind it, but wouldn't finishing be a problem ? Alba as far as I know isn't the best of finishers.

If he was so sick why not start Balde from the start?

Anyways, Alba can never play as LW, does not have the movement needed for that position.
He is good only when there is space in front of him, where he can run into
And he was always a defensive liability.

Think if Koeman starts giving minutes to Balde, the end of the season will look completely different on the prospects of the future of LB at Barca

He played LW for Valencia albeit not at as high a level as at LB.

Could play there to add pace and threat in behind. The point is there is space just now... if teams sat deeper to close off that space due to the threat then that is half the battle won.

Not that will ever happen but would have that any day before a 352 and LDJ at CF.

Without a doubt would be more effective LW than shite like Braithwaite have been in past or LDJ is at CF against team that defends on half way line.

That sounds like you are describing the conditions of tonight's game.
It will occur again next time we face Bayern.

In between, there are tons of games where Barca will need to attack rather than sit back.
There, Alba will not be effective as LW

The conditions of every game so far this season and multiple games last season when teams push high up when no lack of threat of runners in behind.

Which puts pressure on some of weakest areas of the team.

Even poorer teams are doing it against Barca.

Lack of pace is massive issue right now.

I agree that lack of pace is a massive issue, especially in the attacking positions, but when looking for new players who can solve that problem, we should look for those who can also function effectively in tight spaces because majority of the teams we face in domestic competitions prefer to sit back, so that we won't be stuck with players players who have pace but cannot function if they are not given room to utilize it (example Dembele). We can go for players in the mould of Ferran Torres, prime Suarez, Inaki Williams etc, who can function in both open and tight spaces.
