It's true a lot of his work came from hiring the right coach
But what is controversial about this? For every club president, who he hires as managers is very important thing. Because sometimes even when you lay a good foundation and make great atmosphere around the team a bad coach can destroy it all. Or when not everything is perfect and many things are not ticking a good coach can stabilize the situation and make it look better than it is. Because ultimately results on the pitch and how you play on the pitch is most important and has highest influence over public opinion
Flick was a courageous move. He failed with Germany NT and was a big gamble that turned out to work. There were many safer options out there (on paper) but Flick had the most potential and Laporta went for it

Guy promised 1:1 in 2021, and 5 years later he still hasn't delivered, despite pulling levers that still burden us.
He also kept giving Bartomeusque wages to the likes of Lewa, Gundo, Kounde, Ansu, basically serving his super agent buddies
He is an entire disaster financially as well, but he keeps brainwashing his sheep that he is 'saving the club'
Flick is the only reason he wins.

Taking out record loans and pulling levers is not saving club and making deals that aclready look dated in Spotify and Nike is not either.
The finance had to improve and would have.

Likes of Jamrock thinks Lewa and Gundogan being on almost 60m between them made sense.

Spotify is already reported to be dated and undervalued.
The desicions Laporta has made will lead Barca to becoming a SAD. He just hopes wont happen on his watch and can blame others once he is gone.

Anyone coming in had to and its not genius to take out loans built on club brand and pull levers that Barca pay off for decades.
Then HAVE to improve finances as per FFP rules.
Taking advantage of BLM that others set up etc and players/La Masia left all helps massively also.

Laporta inherited a lot of problems and also a lot that has aided Barca finances and ability to rebuild.
BLM prime example... 100s of millions will be made from that and put in place before Laporta.
The La Masia that was revamped after he let it get dated...Balde, Cubarsi, Gavi, Bernal, Fermin, Yamal etc and others that were sold to aid finances.

Paying a fortune to players in their mid 30s that get nothing back for while letting two future Balondors go.

Man, what the hell are you talking about. We won 2 big titles in the last 3 seasons with Laporta, going for 3/4. And several others smaller ones. Watever bad decisions you think the club took these years, they paid out.
You think Lewandowski was a shite deal. Then why did he score 2 goals when we beat Madrid 4-0. Why did he score a golazo at 0-2 vs Atletico. The man delivered the goals. Scored 115 goals so far as a Barca player.
