It's a wrong question to ask, because Barcelona's playstyle isn't focused on the traditional defending with the backline, but with the whole team. That's total football. If the opponent passes in their own half without interference, you can already call it a bad defending from us (what nobody does obviously), because the pressing from our attackers didn't work and they're the first defenders of the team.

Every defensive line in the world looks bad standing in the middle of the pitch, when the attackers run with speed past you in an 1 vs 1 situation. That is the nature of our tactic, the downside. But we accept it, because we like the upsides of it. So the question should never be about a great defense isolated from the team's performance, because as I've said, you criticize the defence, then start with the striker who didn't press as required. We play a system, players are not isolated on their position, everyone depending on each other here.

Guardiola era was the best - Abidal-Pique-Puyol-Alves. Perfect blend of power, aerial ability, passing out of defense and overall defending. Plus we had prime Dani Alves, who ran the whole right flank.

It was perfect for Barca of course, not in therms of absolute defending. You need some Italian defenders for that.

It's not even about high line anymore. Defense is sub-par. We have no in-form defender and we still struggling to find out what is our best CB pairing.

Even Kounde(who was seen as the best defender we have) looks like a clown lately.

Exactly. First I thought it was the fatigue but it's quality. Whatever form they are, isn't good enough.
