(if Iniesta was taller and had full hair)
Hilarious that the people crying the loudest today were the biggest Busquets haters 2 years back blaming him for everything and calling him "Imhotep" and shit. At one point I had to defend Busquets because he was getting scapegoated for everything.

This season will tell us the truth about Hansi. If he is indeed one season wonder than Deco will soon need to start the search for a new coach. What amazes me is the fact that he makes the same mistakes all over again. It's either his way or no way.

If Busquets was "too weak defensively and in transitions" and "ridiculously easy to dribble past and a massive liability against quicker/physical opponents", how do we namedrop Pirlo of all players in the next post?

Busquets was the best defensively because he was always at the right place, he didn't need to chase after the ball. He was in the right position to intercept and block passing lanes in the first place, kept the ball under any sort of pressure and distributed it vertically between the lines in the most congested areas to initiate attacks and speed up play.

If today's Barca had prime Busquets behind Pedri and Frenkie no one would cry about Flick's high line. We wouldn't run into counterattacks and chase after the ball anywhere near as much.

This is just so good to watch:

Anyone else would play the red pass to the midfield partner. Then the ball would further go out wide to to the fullback. Yamal would drop and collect the ball at the sideline and try to dribble 2 or 3 defenders on his own then put in a cross or curl shot if his dribbling succeed. Instead, Busi casually takes out 5 players playing the green arrow vertical pass between the lines and suddenly your number 10 got the ball in the middle and can distribute it to the left wing, right wing or striker infront of him. It opens up far more options than "give it to Yamal on the sideline and inshallah". Even though he is not the one making the assist or even the pre-assist, he initiates the entire sequence of play that follows.

Of course if you let Mbappe run into space and ask Busquets to keep up and last ditch stop him he'd be toast but why should that be my benchmark to rate a DM? The success rate of stopping elite forwards running into space is always a gamble, even for quicker, stronger, more athletic DMs.

No one is afraid but doubt it will be an easy game v Brugge.

They are better than teams Barca have struggled against at times this season already.

They lost 4-0 away to Bayern...Barca lost 4-1 away to Sevilla.

I can't understand why are we all of a sudden crying about Busquets? What is the point of that? We don't have prime Busi or Messi or Pique or Alba anymore.
Would it be good to have a stronger squad? Hell yeah!!!! However, it's a coach job to adapt tactics according to the group of players he has. If we don't have fast and intelligent full backs or center backs and we have a problem with DM position than MAYBE a high line is not a solution right now?!?! It's his job to find a solution and stop playing in the same way every fucking game. Additionally, if tactics asre functioning perfectly for one season it doesn't mean that you can use it indefinitely. Other players and coaches also have eyes and brain and with time they have learned how to adapt and exploit our weaknesses. If our coach can't adapt and correct his mistakes than maybe he is not a top tier level after all.

He isnt playing the same way every game.

There is far more thought into it than Flick just playing the way he wants regardless of players he has.

Play a deeper line with who in defence?

Araujo? Who multiple times last season couldnt do the basics of defending in the box? Christensen who cant stay fit?

Discussion was about something else if you go back a few pages, not about lack of prime Busi today.

We changed the system to suit players we have by hiring Flick. Got the most out of Rapha, old Lewy and some other players. Start of 2nd season it is not working how we would wish but that doesn't mean we should abandon the way we play. There is also a ton of injuries and we have to wait and hope it will get better.
