For the most part, Barcelona was the best club in Europe since 1990 racking up 18 LaLiga titles and 5 European Cups in the process. Unfortunately it bottled that by being complacent after 2015, with Real Madrid winning 11 LaLiga titles and 9 European Cups since 1990.

By 2015, Both Barcelona had won 5 European Cups since 1990 and Madrid had won 4 European Cups.

All of this success that Barcelona warranted in the last 35 years for the most part was caused by Johan Cruyff’s disciplines and ideology.

The book Fear and Loathing in LaLiga, Barcelona v Real Madrid is a very informative and interesting book regarding Real Madrid and especially Barcelona’s history. I recommend you guys check it out.

The most ridiculous thing I just noticed, Barcelona in 2020-21 scored 85 goals and compared to Atletico and Madrid who scored 67 goals respectively. They scored 18 more goals and somehow they still finished 7 points behind Atletico and 5 points behind Madrid. It really was a low point for the club as it was the first 3rd place finish since 2007 which also coincided with the first UCL round of 16 elimination which also was in 2007.

This is why Imo 2020-21 was the lowest point in the club’s recent history and everything after that improved in a way or another.

Should have won the double that season.

Took a while to get over Messi sulking about Suarez and club not letting him leave then they got into position to win it..and blew it when got into position to go on and win it.

That home game to Granada derailed it sickening result.

They had found a formation that worked with Messi/Griezmann behind Dembele at CF and Busi/Pedri/FDJ or FDJ in back 3 behind that.

Then abandoned it it too quickly.
