Nothing wrong assuming we will be out of the group stages. It happened eighteen times in a row.

From now on I wouldn't count on it though.

Before last season we've qualified for at least CL quarter-final in every season since 2007-08 so expecting to do the same this season was understandable especially since they've probably planned Messi would still be here.

So if they didn't qualify to round 16 it would have been the same.
This happens every years by clubs, they have to estimate ton of variables out there

Yes all clubs or entities have to make assumptions but we seem to be going overboard in that regard. It is not just the CL money, for example the article also talks about how we assumed 25m from new sponsors, and so far we only got 3m of the 25m materialized. Not sure how they arrived at these numbers. To me it almost feels like they were deliberately trying to make sure 21/22 season does not result in a loss again. This could get ugly. I hope Reverter know what he is doing.

Sorry for crashing the party, but many players have variable salary components in their contracts when club reaches the CL quarter-finals. Once so called "easily attainable bonuses" from more successful times. This is also factored into the budget.

By going to the EL, club not only loses price money. There are also no variable salary payments on the expenditure side.

Have not seen an invoice that has even rudimentarily taken this into account. One always only speaks of one side of the coin.

Do we know how many players' salaries have that kind of cause built in and how much money we are talking about here?

Pretty much every Bartomeu-contract before the financial troubles started. Not sure about Pjanic, Trincao and Dest. Don't know a sum, but it should be a higher one-digit or low two-digit multi-million Euro sum.

Now that we are out of the CL and part of the EL, the club can create a new EL-kit lol

I read before that there is probably not a single player in top flight that doesn't have a decent portion of his salary based on bonuses.
Clubs knows that success brings money, and they need to motivate players to win and to play.
Even Messi had those
PS: player's contracts are very private documents that are protected, media has some guesses about it but going through details is impossible

Ok so with Atletico choosing not to exercise the buy option for Griezmann all 3 of our flops will likely leave for free. So let's do the maths

Transfer Fees
Dembele 135m
Greizmann 135m 120m initial fee then 15m penalty
Coutinho 160m

Total 430m

Salary
Dembele ?14,924,000 a year so 74,620,000 over 5y
Griezmann ?30,888,000 a year so 123,552,000 over 4y
Coutinho ?21,112,000 a year so 84,448,000

Minus 1 year from Coutinho loan and the 8.5m loan fee and the 1 year Griezmann loan we get a total salary expense of

274,120,000

Total Expense
704m

And the career highlights of each before leaving on a free

Coutinho scored two goals against us in a 8-2 humiliationl lol

Dembele the opem goal miss against Liverpool which woukd have won us the treble

Griezmann the copa win tbf.

Overall

Lol
