I was Delija long before becoming Culer. So: love & support Barca but as a Serb I am glad Crvena Zvezda won this! What a victory!

Been following a bit Euroleague this season.

Barca seem toast.
Totally inconsistent, and seemingly incapable of rising up in the big games (this has been a problem all the previous years with humiliating defeats in F4 against Madrid many times)

OMG, this team.

Another close game and another last seconds loss, this time against last placed Girona. This must be it for Penarroya.

8th consecutive loss against Madrid...

Another close game we couldn't win, I've lost the count how many times it happened this season. And then that fecker Llull (when will he retire, he's as annoying as Modric) scored that lucky three pointer.

But even bigger disappointment is Dame Sarr. He went to the Nike Hoop Summit in Oregon without club's permission despite becoming important part of the team lately with all the injuries. Kids do what they want and usually listen to their agents but also another sign of bad leadership in this club. Doubt something like this would happen in Madrid. But here we have LLLLaporta caring more about what he'll eat for his 7th dinner of the day.

There is discontent and outrage at the Barcelona club over the decision made by a player who had been getting playing time in recent matches. Sarr had been playing an important role for Peñarroya in recent ACB matches: 21 minutes and 47 seconds in Andorra, 16 minutes and 25 seconds against Casademont Zaragoza, and 20 minutes and 11 seconds last Sunday in Badalona.

The Club informs you of the following points:

During November, the player requested permission from the Club to be absent from the match and play in this friendly match. At that time, the Club was open to hearing the player's request.

This request was denied by the Club, and the player and his representatives have been notified of this over the past two weeks, given that Dame Sarr has become an important player for the team.

Despite the Club's express refusal, the player has unilaterally decided to disobey this decision, announcing this Friday night that he will travel at his own expense to participate in the event.

This attitude represents a direct breach of his obligations as an FC Barcelona player.

The Club, which has invested significantly in the training and sporting development of the player residing at La Masia, reserves the right to defend its interests through any means it deems appropriate.

Barca are tied 2-2 with Monaco now.

If qualify for the Final Four, they'll face Olympiacos with high flying Sasha Vezenkov.

Lost game 5 vs Monaco. Punter should have passed to Willy imo.

also, don't think we won any close game this season. Still with all injury problems I'm surprised we even get to be so close to Final Four. There were moments when I thought we won't even qualify for the playoffs so in the end I think Penarroya got the most he could out of this team.

Still don't rate him too much but with club cutting costs in all sections don't think we can afford to pay him off and then bring a new coach. That means Willy will probably be gone as they're not on the best terms though he has played better lately.

There are also reports we already have an agreement with Toko Shengelia on a 2+1 year contract.

I don't follow Barça Basquet that much, but why does it seem that Barça Basquet is somewhat underperforming in the EuroLeague. I mean 2 EuroLeagues is not bad but it just feels underwhelming, especially considering they finished runners up like 6 other times.

Liga Endesa playoffs, quarterfinals against Unicaja (best of 3 series) quick recap.

Game 1: We won a tough away game in Malaga in OT and had a chance to qualify for the semifinals at Palau Blaugrana but instead...

Game 2: ...we suffered the largest home defeat in Liga Endesa playoff history (59-81).

In fact, to find a league defeat at home with a margin of 22 points or more, one must go back more than two decades.

The last time Barcelona experienced such a loss at the Palau Blaugrana was on February 8, 1998, when they were defeated 85-107 by Gran Canaria. Prior to that, a similar result hadn’t occurred since 1970.

Game 3: We were up by 9 points with 90 seconds left but lost in OT after Unicaja had a 15-0 run at end of Q4/start of OT.

Fitting end to a (very) disappointing season. There were so many games we were "in" but ended up on the losing side. I've stopped counting how many close games we've lost but probably in double figures.

I know we had a lot of injuries to key players and other problems (like the Dame Sarr situation) but don't think I've ever seen a team bottling it as much as we did this season. Worst thing is we can't even afford to replace Penarroya so Navarro has already confirmed he's staying. Don't think it's just his fault though. This whole team (or basketball section in general) lacks not only quality but also personality from top to bottom imo. Would need a complete squad overhaul which we can't afford either and tbf I doubt La Bomba (as much as I've liked him as a player) would be capable of doing that anyway.

We are just bottlers. And to make it worse it usually happened against Madrid.

Since we last won the Euroleague in 2010...

2012 SF vs Olympiacos - lost by 4 points in the end but Olympiacos were in front for entire game (IIRC we only led once late in 1st half). They were controlling that 2-7 point difference, we had chances but never took them.
2013 SF against Madrid - we led 61-52 with 7 minutes left then Madrid finished the game with a 22-6 run. We then also lost 3rd place game against CSKA Moscow for 1 point.
2014 SF against Madrid - after close first quarter we were totally destroyed and lost by 38. No comment needed.

2021 final against Anadolu Efes - we led by 10 points early in Q2 but then Shane Larkin and Micic started to play. Still kept a close game until last 2-3 minutes and could have won but tbf I think Efes was just a better team.
2022 SF vs Madrid - we led 47-34 at start of 2nd half but were already behind after Q3. At least they lost the final against Efes for one point but tbf they made up for it when they won in a similar fashion next year against Olympiacos.
2023 SF against Madrid - similar story, we were up 47-39 midway through Q3 before RM made a 15-0 run

Understand it from a financial perspective but sporting wise was a mistake to let Saras go. Yeah, we didn't won but at least with him we were guaranteed to qualify for the Final Four. And worse thing was to replace him with a total rookie coach like Grimau. And Penarroya is not much better either.
