Yeah they played United off the park for 70 minutes at Old Trafford, but United freshened things up, scored on the night, and the Athletic players' heads dropped.

Lindelof really should have been sent off for a shin lunging tackle at 1-0 too. That could have changed everything. United have had a lot of lucky breaks in Europe this season with officials.

As you say, Athletic were the better team in both legs, particularly the second, but lost heavily. 7-1 on aggregate is really harsh for how they performed, especially in the second game.

Obviously United deserved to go through, as they had much more clinical edge. But 7-1 really does flatter them from watching both games.

I think something like 3 or 4-1 to United on aggregate would be fairer. Four of the seven United goals came in the last 20 minutes of the tie when Athletic heads had dropped and they knew it was over.

I am not making posts in here to defend Valverde, because I really have no opinion on him, just talking about what I seen in the two matches.
