Can someone please explain what im missing here? Why is his contract being extended? What is the idea behind it or what has he done especially well for staying another year? Absolute disgrace, we play so inconsistent football, he has no idea how to implement Coutinho, playing with 5 CDM s. What waste for Messi

You can't go to the most important part of the season with such uncertainty. The renewal is more of a boost for both the coach and the players.
If he fails he will likely get fired with small compensation.
Also, if the board actually think highly of him, you don't wait till April to ask him for renewal, tbh I don't remember that happening at all.

Honestly, what if our performance against Lyon ends up in shambles for whatever reason?
I don't think this was the right time to extend his contract, if at all.
Perhaps he should first figure out how to make good use of Coutinho with the way things have been lately as well as figure out the right back position cause it should be Semedo who should always start over Sergi IMO.
Especially with how he has been performing for us lately.
