Ernesto Valverde - V1

Alba-Semedo are going to be if they aren't already to Valverde's system. Alba will provide the heavily attacking load on the Left to help Suarez since it's seems obviously Suarez has a new role with Messi being used as a false 9. Semedo also stretching out with and having a Abidal like role and linking up with Rakitic-Dembele on the right hand side.

However Alba though can't go a full season without having some sort of injury. Digne isn't the same type of LB Alba is, he's more of hard working defensive one that doesn't have that blistering pace Alba has. a Left side of Digne and Suarez is not going to be great. I think maybe shifting Dembele on the left could make up for Digne's lack of pure attacking deficiencies.

Semedo getting injured, we will be stuck with Roberto/Vidal at RB and yeah... not really confident about that.

We've been discussing it a lot and I do agree our shape in midfield is more like a diamond than 3 man midfield (Iniesta and Rakitic combinations were non-existent as they are far apart).
It's a hybrid really as Suarez doesn't and won't play as wide as Dembele, Semedo is not bombing forward like Alba and Rakitic will be playing quite deeper than Iniesta.

We'll see how will it work in the longer run but I am wary as for a diamond you need more lungs in midfield and yet remains to be seen the defensive input of Dembele and Suarez stamina to cover the left side as Neymar did.

Do people still want Sampoali instead of Valvarde?

Were the board correct with choosing Valvarde?

Valverde has only had like 5 matches, whilst Sampaoli has never coached Barça. What kind of conclusions do you want?

One thing i like and what people seem to misinterpret is ''messidependency''. It's very good to make a system, where Messi gets most of the shots both literally and as a principle. Although our midfield is quite shitty, the system works in a way that gives Messi a lot of opportunities to make difference, which was never the case under Lucho, where Messi basically had to brake the stone walls to make something happen and, obviously, it was hard even for him. The ball movement, the geometry of the formation and movement is much better now. If anything, we should use Messi as much as we can in these final years of his prime so departue of Neymar could be indeed blessing in disguise. Despite obvious talent, Neymar isn't and never be as decisive for any team as Messi can be and his presence mean't a lot of futile plays without effective end product.
Obviously, we will be in the world of shit after Messi retires/declines. Not only Barca, but football will never bee the same without him. Godammn, he's like a drug. The aftermath of his departure will be like extreme hangover that goes for several days.

Meh. Then can write triangles including Rakitic and Iniesta but we all know there is almost no connection between them whatsover and it's been confirmed by stats as well.

We need to improve on that, but Raki and Iniesta are yet to have a great game at the same time this season. Against Espanyol Raki was very good and Iniesta less so, against Juve it was the other way around.

It's moment like these we need a firm and strong leader to bring the team back. Sure we might not have the best team, but without Valverde's guidance and leadership.. We might as well call this season over.

This is 99% his win!

Rested semedo
Won away after having played Juventus on CL.
Was not afraid to sub Iniesta when he saw him flopping today.
His subs scored both goals
