Barcelona will not participate in the new format of FIFA Club World Cup this summer.

In the past, the CWC used to be hosted every year in December and the pariticipants were just exclusively by teams who won their continental Champions League.

FIFA have now introduced a new format with 32 teams. And with the prize money involved, it will be taken seriously for sure

Prize money involved in the competition:

- Group phase: $2M per win ($1M per draw)
- Round of 16: $7.5M
- Quarter Finals: $13,125M
- Semi finals: $21M $
- Final: $40M ($30M to the runner-up)
- €33.5M for participating CWC

As the title says: Do you wish Barca played in 2025 FIFA Club World Cup?

Good post. Should generate some good discussion hopefully.

I like Barca but am not a fan of the club officially. It's a dilemma isn't it? As you say the prize money would be very helpful. Also, if this tournament grows in prestige and stature over the coming decades, it would be good to be known as the first winner since the expansion.

The negatives are tiredness coming into the new season and players being flogged to exhaustion. And how fucked up FIFA are (not that UEFA are much better) and the state of the USA right now, which is hosting.

I will abstain from voting as I can see both sides.

Clubs did their best to be part of it for a reason.

Especially a club as financially troubled aa ours.

If you vote no here, chances are you’re a Xavi fanboy.

There is not really much discussion left, because you pointed out all the pros and cons of this tournament. Need everybody for themselves to decide what's more important for them.

Thanks. And yeah agree. With the facts known, people have to weight the pros and cons up and decide what matters most to them, ultimately.

Money would come in handy but players don't need this circus.

Still waiting for them to organise and start boycotting FIFA/UEFA.

1. Trim the league for 2 teams - that's already 4 matches less
2. Cancel Nations League
3. Reduce Super cup to one match again
4. All cup ties - one match

You have 10-12 matches right there (without club world cup).

Sadly, they are even expanding. Club world cup will have 50 teams in 2029.
World cup also getting bigger and bigger.

If you voted yes, odds are you're a Xavi hater.

The answer is obviously no.

Why risk players playing basically 24 months in a row, it's not like we are broke, we made 900m in revenues last season.

Every year we do something to bring in 50-100m and tebas says nice, but that isn't enough.

Our issues aren't on the revenue side, it's on the expense side, constantly talking about the additional 50m we could get, speaks to a fundamental misunderstanding of our current situation.

Flick says thanks for not playing, money would be nice, rest is better.

We will be able to properly answer this question next season, when we see the effect CWC will have on clubs participating

If the fact we didn't pariticipate becomes evident on the pitch against those opponents, then I will be very glad we didn't

I don't delete post because all I post is gold, so need to qoute, it will be here as a reminder of me being right yet again on this forum.

But as tend to be the case I don't know what you're getting at.

The Xavi hates just leads to you talking about dog shit some times.

It's cool you don't fundamentally understand our finances issues and think the extra money will fix it, it's cool.

Rest is better, flick says thanks.

I guarantee @Joan cannot articulate how the extra money would change our FFP situation.

We are about to spend 80m euros this summer on two player and register them as we always do.

So clearly we don't need the money for that.

We have every big club in Europe saying this is a waste of time, even though they are getting the money bar Madrid, who are in it to try and save a horrible season, and maybe athletic.

So how would making that extra money, that wouldn't dramatically change our current financial situation, especially with a return to the camp nou next season, be better than giving the players rest and actually being in a better position to win the titles that matter.

This is the whole People who like Xavi thinks he's a world class manager argument all over again, Not one soul as ever said that, another nonsense view being held by him, because Xavi proved him wrong.

I have my moral objections, but would have watched the shit out of it (Barca games). Now I can save myself the hypocrisy.
