Looking at Rio Ave's team. They were promoted in 2022 and finished midtable (11th or 12th since). Amaral was only there last season as Technical Director. Don't know how much impact he actually had on the signings as they are owned by Marinakis (also owner of Olympiacos and Nottingham Forest) who is known for his transfer dealings but looks like since summer 2024 Rio Ave basically changed their entire team (only one player is there since 2021). They currently have the second youngest team in the @Porque chop league with only four players older than 26 years though they did have some more older guys last season but they left this summer.

Marinakis just appointed Edu Gaspar (former Arsenal SD) as Global Sport Director for his net of teams a few days ago and according to TM a young German-Greek lad is also overseeing all of their clubs as Technical Director. They also brought a Greek coach this summer. So hard to know how/where exactly Amaral was involved in all of these Greek shenanigans but maybe he could actually be good at his job spotting hidden gems and I will clearly give him benefit of the doubt. Mainly because I believe in Deco more than most people here, lol.
