I haven't been wrong about United in the last 11 years ;) Every prediction I have made about them has come true. Most recent saying in summer 2023 Ten Hag wouldn't make it to 2025 as coach (and that's when they were raving about him, but the signs were there).

But yeah, I am not arrogant enough to think I might not be wrong. Maybe I am overegging the pudding a bit, but I just feel they have a lot of problems as a club.

But still, City would likely have to play 15 years minimum to finally overtake United's title record. 15 years is an eternity in football. So maybe my hatred of the red cunts is clouding my judgement.
Considering how good you are at predicting scorelines, I believe this will be true. In Maradona we trust.

Just reposting what I said a few weeks ago. Nothing has changed, nor will it. Time is undefeated

'In all seriousness, not slagging him or taking the piss...

he has been a fantastic player no doubt, and is very good at what he does (scoring goals).

But surely even he knows it's time to give it up? He's so far past it and what does he really get out of playing in Saudi Arabia (other than the obvious)? Even if he gets to 1,000 goals, it's tainted by so many goals over there.

I just think the guy needs to sort out his issues with stuff in this sense. He clearly wants to get to 1,000 goals before he retires, but someone needs to take him aside and tell him he's scored a massive amount of goals already. It's ok. He can retire now and still be known as a legendary player.

Unlike Messi, he's just tainting his legacy now and making a mockery of himself. Like night he was contained by John Souttar and Grant Hanley, who are both pish. Easily so too.

Even though he has those allegations against him, my overriding feeling about him is turning from hate to pity. You just know he's never gonna have peace post-retirement, and is gonna be jealous of all the young bucks who supersede him in future years.

Just give it up mate. Retire and enjoy your life, stop obsessing over goalscoring. He's 40 in February, beyond ancient for a forward. Just stop.

Anyone else agree this is what he needs to do?'

Let the guy score the 1000 goals he dreams of making. It is the only thing left that he can do to stay relevant in the goat debate.

Even if many are in the Saudi league, it is still impressive, a number nobody else has achieved, and maybe won't ever achieve.

What's the point though? Maradona scored about a third of that and everyone knows he was infinitely more talented. Nobody with sense will rate him higher just cos he has 1,000 rather than 900 goals. In fact he's making himself into a meme and is likely damaging his legacy with his disasterclasses and breakdowns.

It is an achievement but he just seems like a robot scoring rudimentary goals to increase his number. It goes against what football should be about - beauty of the game and meaningful achievements.

But I take your point on board for sure.

I really like you as a poster, but I don't think football is generally as simple as that.

Even if they sign Gyokeres, you can almost guarantee they'll destroy his potential and his ability.
Thanks man I do my best! A good manager and some good players can change a team around quick. Will Man U change? It remains to be seen. I do think their plan is to sign Gyokeres asap though.

*You are one of the good posters here as well.

I paid attention to him in Poland vs Portugal match and was impressed by his impact and the contribution in the game...he was classy, looked to me like he had first fiddle.
Arguably, he still has potency to play a critical role. Be as it may, it is also interesting from a perspective of a biological experiment, how efficient a 40 year old man can manage to be at this level of international competition. I won't be surprised, and wouldn't mind, if he goes to WC 2026 to have his last dance,

I do like reading what you have to say on football generally.

My own opinion...he's been woeful in other games too though (like against Scotland and others) and was an abomination at the Euros and the World Cup before that.

He can have the odd decent game in meaningless Nations League matches, but overall I think he's finished and he can't do it at the proper tournaments. Martinez is fucking Portugal up by playing him. He has to though because of pressure from the Portuguese FA.

Fair enough, respect your opinion, and thanks. I meant it, you are a great poster.
