Cristian Gabriel Romero born 27 April 1998 is an Argentine professional footballer who plays as a centre-back for the Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur and the Argentina national football team.

AFAIK Spurs had an obligation to buy so would need to buy him even if he'd do bad for them this season. Wouldn't be that good business then.

Yeah it was an obligation with certain conditions. Not sure how hard or easy they were, but surely something involving Spurs getting a spot in Europe.
