He also left Wharton out on the back of a tremendous season for his club despite being the type of holding player England have been crying out for for God knows how many years now. So instead we had to endure Rice as a number 6 all tournament. Don't get me wrong, I'm a big fan of Rice and think he's a fantastic midfielder. But as a 6 he plays the first pass far too safe which then means the team can't get ahead of steam in the build up. Wharton moves the ball forward so quickly and it makes a huge difference as it doesn't allow teams to get set.

I expect a Tuchel disasterclass tbh. Nothing in his past says he'll be a good fit for a tournament camp, and if Southgate had done what he had recently everyone would be trying to hound him out of the job already.

I won't write him off yet but his start has been underwhelming to say the least. I'm not bothered about losing to Senegal at the end of a season in a meaningless friendly. We beat them a couple of years ago in the World Cup, comfortably, when it mattered. But bringing back Henderson and using Walker (he's half the players he once was) is just baffling.

With the job Carsley has done, winning back to back Euros with the under 21's, surely it's his gig next.

I don't think it's just that, before Araujo was taken off, Chelsea was all over us, and we couldn't hold the ball for long.

They were pressing us like bees, crazy work rate from them, and they made us not think.

Chelsea are playing with 10 with him out there, and there is a strong argument to make that they are better without him. Has played 1 great game (Vs QSG), IN THE LAST 8 MONTHS.

And by far the worst thing about his game is how he gives the ball away all the time. And no, it's not when he is trying to thread a through ball through the eye of a needle. It's simple, 5 yard, circulating the ball, passes that he is giving away, often in dangerous areas.

If Lamine ever played even 1 half like Palmer has just played they kill him for weeks.
