Club World Cup

U19 and U21 Euros going on. Also Women's Euro starts in July.

In CWC I will only watch groups A (Messi vs Tigrinho) and B (interested to see how my MLS team Seattle will do but they were unlucky to be drawn into the toughest possible group with PSG, Atleti and Botafogo so don't expect much). Might see a game or two of Madrid to see what Xabi is cooking but then probably won't watch much before QF or so.
Yeah other stuff going on too. Women's Euros could be good, the women's game has improved a lot in last 10 years or so.

I'll try. Thanks for the advice.
No problem. Part of the wider Aquatics World Championships, but swimming is last week in July and first week in August. Just because we enjoyed the Olympics so much (and athletics Worlds are in September).

You should be able to watch it all on Eurosport.

Only issue is time zone differences as in Asia.

Might Bayern vs Auckland be another Spain v Tahiti situation?

I am just making my picks on Superbru as playing this there for the next month.

I'll watch a few games if I have nothing better to do.

They are giveaway tickets now, after pricing tickets like it was the actual WC a few months ago lol.

I'm 15 minutes away from where the SF and final will be held.

Still have no real interest in goal.

In will be great season Atleti and Madrid killing themselves in the America summer, I wish it was being held in July when it's even hotter.

I take it you're in or around New Jersey then.

I have an American friend from there, and he says it's the best state in the country for some reasons. Not sure if he's biased or it's actually true. Thoughts?

Apparently it is one of the safest states, which I think is a big part of his reasoning. Bear in mind I am Scottish and never been to USA so can't really know, hence me asking you.

NJ is definitely not the best state to live in he's lying to you.

On paper it's like the richest state per capita or top 3 and stuff like that, which is what he's might be getting at.

The best part of NJ is most of the state is 1 hour away from NYC or Phili, so you get the big city vibes without living there.

Which is why lots of people from those plays live in NJ and worth there.

But it's a great place to live generally

Thanks for the info. I guessed he was being a bit biased but still expected it to be a very good place to live compared to plenty places in USA.

Side bar, I think by the 3rd or 4th edition people might start to take it more seriously.

But now it's just a Saudi oil money funded friendly tournament.

That's where all the money is coming from they bought a stake in DAZN after they got the rights for the CWC, but it was all already being planned in the back ground.

Oil money is in charge of football now, smh.

Yeah I made that point in the poll thread. It doesn't seem to carry much prestige now and is more about the prize money. But retroactively in the coming decades it could be seen as a real coup to be the first team ever to win it in its expanded format.

Kinda like Uruguay are always in history as winning the first ever World Cup. It wasn't back then what it became. Admittedly the world and football are much different and larger in 2025 than 1930, but still.

I don't know how to take it seriously when only European clubs really have a chance, it's not like that on international level
True, but int. level is really just Europe plus Brazil and Argentina who are real contenders for the World Cup.

But I definitely agree there's fewer poor teams in World Cups than there are likely to be in this. Or were before it became 48 teams.
