I don't agree. He's nearly 30 and being one entire season in the stands will most likely close the door to elite teams forever. He can lose much more money and competitive football for this one year. Barca just needs to make his agent understand what he risks. Atletico wants him, so he shouldn't try to press the last Euro out of Barca, but be glad that still a team on their level are interested in him.

Lenglet could be loaned for another season to Atletico. They know they can exploit his contract situation. Gimenez and Le Normand are Cholo's starting CBs in general. What gave Lenglet the chance to start was Le Normand's head injury.

I'm not ruling out Flick utilizing this newly found confidence of Lenglet to keep him at Barca next season. Plot twist.
