De Jong is a dissapointment in CL big nights for years. Why this time would have been different?

Frenkie and Pedri dominated Newcastle last time out.

A stronger Newcastle in better form.

Last season Frenkie was best player with/after Yamal in CL semi final v Inter.
Was the best player after Pedri in QF win over Dortmund.
Was with Pedri the best two as Barca won away to Benfica with 10 men in last 16.

Pedri was average and frustrated v Newcastle. He had no help and largely relegated to some nice turns in areas couldnt hurt Newcastle and didnt pass ball all that well as under so much pressure.

Ferran probably starts now that Lewa played entire match.
If both don't score, Ferran can at least run a bit here and there. A sad state of our strikers. Lewy has at least some injuries this season and his age as excuses, while Ferran is simply inexcusably bad.

Considering who was resting yesterday I think we have our lineup and I agree with it, it's the best we have at the moment.

Joan
Eric Cubarsi Martin Cancelo
Bernal Pedri
Yamal Fermin Raphinha
Ferran

That looks like will be the team.

Would prefer Olmo to Fermin if he isnt ar CF.

Need as much legs/strength and power can get in team and Olmo better defensively and to drop to help Pedri/Bernal.

Should be enough either way but Olmo for me. He was the best midfielder v them last week.

Small chance Araujo starts at CB if they have more time to set up a defence.

Last week they would have to have changed how set up all of back four if put Araujo at CB.

Tonali fitness is touch and go for midweek now apparently.
In case they do miss Tonali in addition to Bruno, there's no excuses for our midfield to not completely dominate, and them alone win this for us, and I mean convincingly. There's only so much fouling they can do. ;)
