what is it 5 years and not bought one player with pace and 1v1 ability up top?

Had one.. lost him.. he won balondor.

Got lucky with Yamal being there.

Been said 3 years ago.. good luck with Lewa at CF against good teams that press.. he makes it easier for them.

Victor Osimhen.

Schlotterbeck.

Guehi.

Munoz.

Grimaldo.

And watch us prosper!

Not being mentioned is that the money needed for this only exists in La La Land for Barca

Money buys Champions Leagues.

Barca has no money = no Champions League for Barca. It is what it is.
That's the sad truth. You ain't winning shit against the best unless you get to build your team by spending 100mil every summer for few years. Barca winning it would be a massive Cinderella story.

Also having a home stadium helps. Not sure if Montjuic or half-full Camp makes any difference.

Awful result and performance.

No chance to adjust after the red really but thats on the club and Flick for trusting Araujo.

'Because I am a scorpion' fable comes to mind.

Apart from Osimen, the other are cheap given the market.
And Lewa is leaving
Have discussed this in the past

An absolute embarrassment from start to finish. Even before Araújo's second yellow, Chelsea were dominating possession and clearly the more aggressive side. We were going to lose this game no matter what the donkey did.

we can never know. 1 chance in football can make a world of difference. we were stripped if that chance to turn it around. not saying we would.

Our midfield was non existent. The pressing was crap. Everyone seems to be blaming it on the defense but as far as I’m concerned the midfield was horrible. And the pressing was absolutely crap. There was never a team press it was just individuals pressing like headless chickens while teammates set up for a mid block.

This was a horrible performance and I blame Flick for doing a horrible job setting up the squad and tactics.

Not a fan of conspiracy theories, nor I think the game was decided there,

But isn't this VAR frame a bit fishy?
Compare to the original frame above. Cucurella's parts are positioned differently. Small differences, but real.

Did someone picked on purpose the wrong frame for VAR?

This was bizarre situation where I think the collapse really started. We already struggled from the 20min+, Chelsea having chance after chance. Here Lewy points at others to press when he is pressing, then Yamal gets pissed at Fermin because he didn't try to cut of this pass.. Fermin gets pissed off and just walks and lifts his hands in the air in a complaint I guess.. Then Torres looks frustrated on the other side. Then they just walk back to defense. What a shitshow.

Just interesting scenario and already shows that the players are not capable of doing the tactics or strategy what they are supposed to do I guess? Lewy did good press here and it's true, that if Fermin could run to this ball, he could get it. It was a bad pass.

Team knows what to do, but can't execute the Flick ideology. We need better fitness.

This looks cooked for sure. I was wondering the same.

lewa is slow to press, does it just fir the vibes. yamal presses faster bad is immature and gets uninterested fast, forgets to track back. ferran is OK I guess. overall though not good pressing traps, just hail marys

Workrate/press is the name of the game in modern football.

Ya, if there is no collective press, then there is no point in doing it. A lot of these EPL teams perfected the collective press. If one player presses but others don't collectively, it leaves a lot of gaps.
