I was laughing at the bit about people deserving to suffer for not being football fans. That's the problem I keep saying - you can like a post for part of it and not another, and people think you agree with the whole post lol.

I know the value of money and that football costs a lot.

Unless you knew that and are taking the piss yourself hah.

yeah i knew it, was just joking 🤣

only 10 would be good but really dont think that but yeah lots of netflix subscribers would leave

lets see
Their prices are already too much, but if they get CL they can justify that hike.

Although, when you think about it - back in the 80s a VHS tape cost the equivalent of £80 these days. Now you can stream in much better quality than VHS (though not as good as blu or 4k) with access to a massive quantity of films and shows, for a fraction of the price monthly.

In many ways we are better off. The problem is everyone and their mum has brought out streaming service.

I suppose there are exta/ancillary costs like needing the internet to stream too.

Like you say, quality is a big factor now. I guess you pay for ads Netflix. Tbh there's so many ads with it that I would rather not have it all, hence my having standards. For many years I had Premium but wasn't getting the most out of it.

Netflix is rubbish for good films and foreign cinema (I have MUbi for that) but great for shows.

Between 2005 and 2015 (2005-06 to 2014-15), Futbol Club Barcelona reached 8 out of the 10 UCL semi finals in that time period and winning 4 out of the 8 semi finals reached. Barcelona also in this period managed to kick start the longest UCL semi final run up to 2016-17, which was 6 consecutive UCL semi finals that has never been seen before even during Madrid’s 5peat era, and if it weren’t for stupid losses against Atletico in 2014 and 2016 it really could’ve been 8 (the current record, Madrid 10-11 to 17-18). Also it has to be stated that this also was a huge part of Barcelona reaching 13 consecutive UCL quarter final appearances which was between 2007-08 and 2019-20.

Many people took this for granted in this forum, everyone thought this was the norm after an insane era for this club. But truth has to be stated that before this era, Barcelona only reached the UCL semi finals 7 times in their 106 year history preceding the Golden Era of Barcelona in Europe also 50 out of those 106 years had the European Cup/Champions League in them (1955-2005).

And now a decade on from the end of this era, we only reached 2 UCL semi finals out of 10 attempts and an even worse record that not many know of we have reached 3 out of 12 UCL semi finals after the end of the run which was 2013. Let’s hope that under Hansi we can kickstart another golden age or even a rejuvenation in Europe. Barcelona is too big of a club to reach only 3 UCL semi finals after 2013 and hopefully under Flick and his successors we will be back to ruling Europe once again.

3 peat should have never happened when you have Messi in your team.

And as you said few weeks ago, I think it was you anyways, that Barca took way too long to win CL with the kind of players they had.

20th century is the problem imo, not last 20 years.

I agree but it has to be stated that without the Golden Age of Barcelona in Europe. We have underachieved not just massively but EXPONENTIALLY. It really is a shame when you had players such as Maradona, Cruyff and Kubala play in your ranks but still have nothing in Europe to show for it. Tbh it had to do with the fact Barcelona was financially handicapped in the 1960s due to the debts accumulated building the Camp Nou and the delay of the sale of the Les Corts land (Les Corts was Barcelona’s old stadium before Camp Nou) and the general mismanagement of the club by numerous presidents until Nunez came in 1978. Also one last thing, Barcelona developed an inferiority complex/historic fatalism in the European Cup due to the losses in Bern (1961) and Seville (1986) which gave the club deep trauma that wasn’t truly dealt with until perhaps the 4th in Wembley 2011.

Should have won both, Ramallets own goal in 1961 (also stopping Madrid from 6 peat), and Steaua goalkeeper saving every penalty in shootout in 1986.
