Him needing to be the hero and have everything go through him is a big part of why they're so bad. Although obviously they have a lot of poor players and the coach isn't covering himself in glory either.

They need a team, not him constantly spamming passes.

He also disappears against good teams quite regularly, most recently against Newcastle.

It's also very funny when people assume his stats would automatically get better at a better team - at prime Man City he'd be just another player and wouldn't have license for everything to go through him.

He has ability but he plays the percentages. He's very basic and building a team around a law of averages midfielder will never prove successful.

There's a reason he's never come close to challenging for a league title or a CL, and why no other team comes in for him. Surely if he was this amazing player more successful clubs would be jumping at the chance to sign him? But they aren't, funny that.

Saying a player at the 16th placed team in the league has been one of the league's best players this season is incredibly disrespectful to less hyped up, less flashy players.

Good post, but they are bad regardless of Bruno. He helps them, doesn't hinder them imo.

But he does go hiding vs top teams that don't give him time on the ball to pick his passes.

Thanks.

Fair enough. It's just my opinion. I also agree they'd be even worse if you took him out of there.

He makes them a bit better than they'd be without him, but as we can see with all the evidence, it is nowhere near enough to make them even a decent or good team. I just feel if they built more of a better team and didn't rely on his stats they'd be much better off. Obviously with the players they have now they need him, but what you want is a lot of better players than they have and Bruno playing less of a hero ball role (if he can do that).

I hate him and he moans more than pornstars do but this annoying rat has like 20 goals and 20 assists this season while playing with absolute bums in a terrible system.

His end product and numbers are insane. Always been the case. He's a brilliant G/A merchant and absolutely carries the club since the day he joined. @soul24rage @Fati_Future_BallonDor @Rassvet @serghei

He is machine for the final pass and his shooting is way above average for a midfield

The problem with him is that he go to invisible mode in big games (for Portugal) and starts to lose balls easily

Should leave Manu to develop further

The ultimate numbers taken out of context to make someone seem far better than they are player imo.

Gives away so many easy passes that lead to pressure on his team, Sick of hearing about his completely fabricated 'chances creates' stats too - a lot of them are very poor quality chances. Plus they are pulled out of thin air. I heard somewhere he created 15 chances across two games against Bournemouth and Sheffield United last season (one of which they lost 3-0). I watched both games and he came nowhere near creating that many chances.

He really seems like someone who gets overrated because of out of context stats. And again - his stats are good because he's indulged and can play hero ball in a wank team. In a team like prime Man City he'd be nowhere near one of the better players and he'd have to adapt his game, meaning much more modest stats.

The type of people who think he goes to Man City, outshines De Bruyne and improves his stats because he is 'playing with better players' - as if Pep or any other top coach will give the guy free reign to play Gerrard style headless chicken hero ball - do not get football, in my opinion. There's so many examples of the game not working that way.

He's had long spells of poor form, as anyone who has watched United for the last five years and isn't a biased United fan will admit. He was woeful for most of last season, started playing well in March or April then won their POTY (or was it Dalot? He was in contention) because it was fresh in the memory and they have Stockholm Syndrome around him. I watch every United game almost, and have for many years. He has a lot of poor games, and a lot of games where he's diabolical but covers it with an assist or a goal (usually a penalty).

Thinking he 'carries them' is likely what people inside Old Trafford think too. And it's that sort of thinking that will play a part in keeping them a poor team enslaved to his horrible to watch percentages style of playing football- very basic.

I really don't understand how you can downplay guys like Messi and Iniesta and defend this fraud. It's strange. I know you rate them a lot higher than him, but you still think they've overrated relative to their reputation and this guy is underrated relative to his (with his detractors like me).

Yeah agree. He is annoying but United's best player by far.
He's their best player yes, but that's not saying much. And he'd struggle to crack the top 8 players at clubs like Bayern, Barca, Inter, prime Man City and prime Liverpool.

He's just proved me right again with one of the very worst performances you'll see from a team's 'talisman' in a final. And it was only the EL Final against a team as bad as them.

The standard he plays at does not match the hype at all.
