R9, Carlos and even Cafu were past it, Robinho was never "him" anyway and Kaka wasn't at his peak yet. The team was still as good as anyone in terms of players but they were still flawed. Add ego to the mix and it was clear they were going out as soon as a serious team plays them.

France for the golden generation last dance were that team obviously.

Italy had the deepest team at the time, with a generation that failed to meet it's potential since 2000 in their last attempt together. It was one of the few times I predicted the winner easily (2014 I expected it to be between Germany and Argentina, 2018 I was 100% sure it was France).

I'm curious about Igor Thiago, playing for Brentford currently. Just 2-3 years ago he was playing for Ludogorets Razgrad in the Bulgarian league and was phenomenal. Currently sitting second behind Haaland in EPL in goals with 16 scored. Haven't been called up by Ancelotti still.

Holds a Bulgarian passport and eligible to be called up to our NT is crazy at this point, but wtf?

R9 shouldn't have been a starter.

They should have kept the 3-4-2-1 for the WC06 and even with the WC10.

Would have played something like this for WC06

-------------------------Adriano
-----------------Ronaldinho-----Kaka
Roberto Carlos--Emerson-----Ze Roberto----Cafu
-----------Lucio---------Luisao-------Juan
---------------------------Dida

Vini did well when he could move central. Best option for Ancelotti would be if he can fit in Raphinha at LW/LM somehow without having to bench Vini. Most likely is Raphinha at CAM though, but his strengths don't show as well as when he's to the left.
