Brazil

Well great times of Brazil will inevitably return, in my opinion

The country is just loaded with football talent, it will never disappear. The problem is if they can fit their style and tradition in modern football that is all about pressing, running and tracking back I don't know. They might have to alienate themselves from that in order to make big success, or make some blend of joga bonito and modern football

TBH most of the names are mediocre players.

Back in 2002, pre-WC media criticised Scolari for playing conservative football, but the squad was stacked with unbelievable level of talent in every area.

Ancelotti is facing a huge problem with Brazil - the country is not producing defenders in current era. And solid defenders have been his trademark wherever he's gone.

Well-observed point. His teams (certainly at Real Madrid against equal standing sides) are built on staying in the game with decisions and last-ditch defending, and nicking something in attack. It might be tough for him as this Brazil isn't really built to withstand pressure.

Brazil is facing a similar problem as that of Argentina back in 2010 - 2014.

Brazil has a lot of WC attackers, average midfielders and a solid defense.

My proposed XI

Neymar------------Joao Pedro----------Raphinha
-------------Andre----------Bruno Guimarães
------------------Andreas Pereira
Caio Henrique---Gabriel---Militao---Vanderson
----------------------Alisson
I would still maintain that Brazil should play this. Joao Pedro needs to be a starter no doubt.

The only probably change is having Raphinha at LW and maybe Estevao on the RW.

I won't talk about the rest of their team, but on paper they have some good attackers - Pedro, Estevao, Neymar, Vinicius, Raphinha, Endrick, Rodrygo, Cunha. Probably missing some.

But dig deeper and plenty of those players have issues with something. Neymar is getting older and his body is cooked with injuries, Vinicius never turns up for Brazil and has a bad attitude, Estevao and Endrick are young and inexperienced, Rodrygo has a huge ego, Cunha might have a terrible season at United etc.

The issue they have is selecting the right players and fitting them in. They are a bit like Real Madrid in having lots of left wingers. I would agree with @soul24rage that Pedro is their best option as the 9. Neymar obviously will play as a big name, on the left. So it looks like one of Raphinha or Estevao will be a backup. Vinicius could be nowhere too.

Ancelotti needs to devise a plan for the attack that gets the best out of them. Even as a huge Neymar rater I would be tempted to start him from the bench due to age and his body not being as good as before, and start Raphinha there and play Estevao on the right.

A lot can change though before the tournament kicks off in just under 11 months.
