No. You're not wrong.

But apparently it's Flick's fault Araujo fucked up. Probably was his fault when Araujo fucked up under Xavi too.

The same way it was Flick's fault the players didnt waste time at the end of regular time.

Too funny.

Shut up coots ain't nobody listening to you.

If anyone wants to challenge anything I just wrote and point out the flaw in what I said, outside of araujo made a mistake, we now need to spend big on a CB, I genuinely welcome it.

But I have my doubts.

Because not many teams in Europe have 4 better defenders, as I've said before

Cubarsi best young defender on the planet, top class defender regardless, he will lose two years of development if all he does is keep a high line but that's a story for another Day.

Martinez proven Class defender in la Liga for years.

Christensen class defender when fit.

Araujo very good defender, one high profile mistake ( last year red card, because this season it's more a system failure, even though he should have done better 70% system, 30% him) but that doesn't change the fact that he can defend with the best of them.

Garcia serviceable against lower la Liga teams.

If we have a crisis of injuries at CB, kounde can step in and play at a high level.

Am I missing anything?.

Why would we waste money on that position right now unless someone leaves.

If we play the CL final tomorrow, I just like flick, would feel comfortable starting any combination of those 4.

PSG just won the CL playing two CBs, one was a laughing stock on here for years and pacho is no better than any defender we have, he just plays in a system that doesn't leave him exposed.

If memory serves me right city won the CL playing ake or Akanji.

Liverpool have probably the best CB partnership in Europe, what did that get them in the CL?

What the hell people keep talking about with CBs I will never know.

We have 4 highly capable CBs that only a handful of CBs can improve on.
For Araujo I think it's more than one mistake. Versus PSG he showed what a tactically disciplined side can do to him in a big game. Against Inter I agree he's not to blame for Acerbi goal but Frattesi one that actually knocked us out, he defended like an amateur. Thuram who played 100 minutes (and is not known as some deadly dribbler 1v1) destroyed him. He's just not good on the ball and that matters a lot today and in this system. And also he is not very smart. If we play him as starter in this offside trap thing he will probably fail a lot.

I give you all of that, but even if all that is true, he is still one of the best defenders in la Liga and it simply doesn't make sense to buy a defender when you are 6 deep in that position.

Now if anyone leaves, we would be stupid not to buy a defender.

But I don't buy this argument that you need a VVD level defender to win the CL, I gave two examples of teams winning the CL with defenders not are not better than ours.

While Liverpool has won 1 and got dumped out this season with the best CB partnership in Europe.

What I certainly don't buy is if you can buy is that a top level CBs Improves us, more than a top level 9.

That's is completely and totally wrong.

Mind you I have supported lewa from day 1, but if you have the money, immediately you replace that polish bastard for someone like Isak or Alvarez.

Fuck a CB

We can win the CL Cubarsi + any of the other 3, if we get someone like that.

What would be the best outcome in a dream world?
Selling Fati, Christensen, Garcia, either De Jong or Gavi, Kounde, Balde, either Olmo or Fermin, Araujo, Torres, Fort, Ter Stegen..
Get better LB and RB, a better CB to work with Cubarsi, a striker, Nico, and maaaybe a better DM.

One will help, but we have a much bigger need for a winger because if one of yamal or raphinha goes down we are screwed.
I am not disputing that we dont need an LW backup. Of course, we need.
My argument is that the Wingers we have are B'dor level. A decent backup is all we require.
But for the CB, I don't believe a 34-year-old will be able to play that high-level football this year like he played last year. Even then, his form suffered due to fatigue at the end. One of the reason was our backups not being good enough or injury-prone.
On top, the Inigo-Cuba pairing, which is our best, has a flaw in it being a bit slow and having a lack of height.
So the only way we sign a CB is if one leaves.
We definitely need to sell Araujo and/or Christensen. One has to go.
We are overbooked in the CB department, but none other than Cuba, Inigo are reliable.
Kounde is an elite RB. I don't really see him as a CB backup, cuz it defeats the purpose. Eric has the same deficiencies that I have listed, and he is the worst out of all the ones we have.

My thought process is, we get LW backup for cheap. We have two years of B'dore level Raph still left. So we have time. Use some of that LW money to buy a Tall, fast LCB to pair with Cuba who is RCB. We fix our defense depth plus up our levels.
The Shots on Goal conceded by our defense last season was on par with the last 10years data. It was much better than Xavi 2023 season. So we definitely have an improvement there.
Our Goals conceded from those Shots on Goal are a little higher. But having a Taller, faster CB with a better GK should fix the issue. Its a much "easier" fix than changing the system. We definitely need to tweek the system next year, but still having faster CB will give us options.

Then go for a Striker next summer. I would be even fine with a New striker this year, and a CB next summer. But has to be one or the other this summer.
A great starting CB improves our starting XI the most, no doubt.

But attack depth is also a problem, Ferran is the only backup worth anything.

We have "numbers" when it comes to CB, and if the club doesn't believe they can get a CB that imoroves us,then addressing other needs is the right thing
Rashford or Perisic alone improves us massively upfront. Cheap.

But yeah, we do need better backups for our attacking depth.

I am really sure there will be no cb or striker this summer, deco and laporta already said it. i think it will be nico or a cheap winger.
The opportunity is big, there no winger with such a talent on the market, and 58 mil is ok.

Its like last season, where alvarez was on the market for 75. take it or leave it, atleti did and this year he would not have been on the market if he stayed at city last year cause they see he is better then haaland

There is no chance Rapha and Yamal will be as healthy and in form as last season and without them we don't have anyone. We need a LW more than a CB but I'm afraid we won't have money for a winger, at least not for Nico's clause. It doesn't seem realistic that we will sell anybody for real money.

PSG buying another center, Zaybarni for 60m. All about improving the squad.
Must be fun going into the toy's store as a kid with millionaires parents and just point out the things you want. Fuck Uefa, Ceferin, Enrique and everyone who supports this shit.
