30m for almost 30 year old player whose best position is the one we don't even use. No, thanks.
We are not in a position to bring a competition for Kounde or Balde. Hopefully we'll be there in a few years but for now what we need in those positions is better depth. So I don't think we should invest big money in RB/LB. I also don't understand why looking at players who can only play one position. They say Vanderson is versatile but according to TM he only played two games in his career at LB. Similar with Ratiu. So we have no idea how either of them would do at LB if they would have to step in for Balde (which is more likely given he's quite injury prone and Kounde on the other side is a machine - doesn't mean he shouldn't be rested occasionally but we don't need a 20m+ player for that role).
So what I think we should do is get a younger version of Cancelo (or Adriano back in time) but would like that player to to be better defensively. Flick can improve players offensive output but can't teach them how to defend so getting someone who can already defend would be preferable.
Doesn't have to be a young player either because we have several of our own. Hopefully we have a good plan for them. Ofc I'm talking about Fort (we already wasted this season of development with him), Torrents and Landry - I don't think any of them is ready to step up or that it would be smart to use them as squad players next season. At their age they need to play regularly which is not possible here (unless Flick will develop a Gerard Martin like love relationship with any of them over summer).
So ideally we should find a player in his mid-to-late twenties who would be relatively cheap, versatile and accept to be a squad player. More I think about this more I like the idea of bringing back Mingueza. He's not as defensively sound as I'd like but options are limited and he would do a job for a few years. And in meantime we'll see how above mentioned kids will develop.
