Barca 2025 pre-season

Hagi and entire Romanian veteran NT at one point at one of the Euros did it too though. And they immediately lost the match and went out. Old age doesn't come alone.

Different scenario as they had a bet that if they qualify out of the group , they all have to dye their hair.

Whose ready for the overthinkers. "Yamal can't play now because he didn't perform vs some Japanese team in the first pre season game." Who cares really? All we want is 0 injuries and to see some Youth/Young players get time with the 1st team.

Btw Roony doesn't look out of place. Either did Torrents.

Some additional post-match thoughts - yes, it’s pre-season but under Flick we saw a glimpse last summer of what we would see throughout season. He is searching for match sharpness but its a process and they are at the beginning of the training campaign. Still, interesting things seen that conclusions can be drawn already

And me personally, I always look forward to pre-season. It sets a tone and attitude means a lot in sport which are elements I am buoyed by when I watch this Barça…and it is set early in pre-season. It’s also where we traditionally showcase youth players who might be ones to look out for in the near and on occasion very immediate future. I think there is most probably going to be more than 1 youth integration, apart from Roony & Dro

Tale of two halves really, strategy from start appeared to be most of starting XI for the first time after 2 months layoff. 2nd half was purportedly the training team that has been creating a buzz among those attending training and that was where quite a few interesting aspects

Roony. I think too often people get caught up in the stats/goals rather than see how fluid they are in our way of playing and even before he scored or roofed that nice potential assist from Rashford you could plainly see how seamlessly he integrated into that RW position - understanding space, vision to make the right choice and natural touch. A big surprise, I must confess. He’s someone to be excited about, I think its a certainty even in his brief display Flick will keep him with 1st team and he will get minutes - from there, who knows. But for 2.5M, wow. At a minimum he is an upgrade over Torre but I am a bit shocked at how naturally he fits into the rhythm of our play - looks born to play this way

Marcus. I saw a motivated player which is the first thing and he’s coming off injury and not playing much so rust is normal at this stage of training and adaptation to Barça. However, the positives are that he has incredible skills, link up comfort and speed that will clearly be a weapon this season. I am curious how he will adapt to Spanish defenders who aren’t going to let him simply flick ahead and outrace them for the ball, he’ll have to exhibit close control dribbling which I think he has in his locker but hasn’t had to rely on it much in England. Everytime the play switched from pressure on the right to his flank, alarm bells were going off for the defense which is what he brings - that ability to get behind the defense. Once he develops chemistry & timing with his teammates, that will be something to watch. A lot of positives with his brief debut

Dro. New season, new Masia player to feature under Flick. Nevermind that Bernal is still to be fully recovered but already I think it’s quite probable we will see much more of Dro with 1st team. He has a role to play in this team IMHO. I also think that 2nd team with Frenkie as the CAM was quite effective, more so than the 1st half team with Pedri (who was flawless), Gavi & Fermin - they were getting into danger areas far more easily in that 2nd half than the 1st. So many great things I have read about Pedro’s earlier tutelage and ascendency at Masia that we should be excited at his potential - there is something there with Dro. What a nickname too

Jofre. I see what club is excited about in him but truthfully I still see a player that is not nearly as polished on the ball as Valle but physically has a bigger frame than the former. Feels like that might be what Flick prioritizes in that respect. Still, he played out of trouble on occasion and kept demanding the ball

I still like the idea of Ratiu but I continue to be impressed with Eric as a RB - intelligent players with great leadership and motor are invaluable and perhaps RB is where he will make his home. He kept making good decisions with Lamine and finding the right pass, when to intervene defensively. His lack of pace limits that right flank though and here again I do wonder, despite Laporta’s recent comments to the contrary, will there truly be no further additions?

The first one they did as well no?

Heard someone mention it IRL

Only second half. They had some issues with paid streaming or something. So they gave up. No surprise really as every little thing with this club is being ran by amateurs/Laporta friends.
