Thought Scaloni was spot on, but he waited for the subs too long, some of the players were dead tired by min 80 and this lapse of concentration due to tiredness IMO almost ruined their performance.

He was a bit naive towards the end of regular time (he's inexperienced) but he took the game to France by starting Di Maria (and that too on the LW). Which is a ballsy call to make in a WC final.

The stat sheets show Argentina dominated this game.

20 shots (10 on target) to 10 shots (5 on target) for France

More possession

Di Maria always had legs for one strong intense half, and it was probably planned ahead to give 100% and come off when done.

He should have subbed De Paul sooner, everyone who watched the game with me saw minutes before he was subbed that he was starting to be very late in covering his zone. De Paul worked like a mad man.

Why is that ballsy?

Di Maria has and always will be able to play on either wings

Exactly. I was begging for subs around 70min. He waited too long.

Yeah Scaloni messed up by not bringing on subs.

From Arg. news, Di Maria could only have played for 70 min. so him being taken off for Acuna is logical.

We needed to maintain the energy and intensity so A. Correa and Palacios should have been on for Alvarez and De Paul.

In spite of this, Scaloni is a God now in Argentina and bless him for everything he has done in the past 4 years.
