There has been a huge decline in natural God given talent. The stuff that you can't teach. The stuff that can't be taught no matter if you train 15 hours a day. The players that put you at the edge of your seat. All other generations had numerous of them.

The fact that a 17 year old with huge natural talent immediately shot up to be the best player in the world should tell you all you need to know about the dearth of natural talent in today's game.

Has the talent really declined though?

We sit at the pinnacle of training, rest, recovery, nutrition and tactical implementations.

Kids are now entering pro academies at 4 years old, and if you don't get in at that point, then you have to get scouted in.

If anything it is the opposite. The defensive systems, fitness and physical attributes have improved so much, that you can't get by as a flair attacking player these days. Not unless you are a genetic freak (hi Scott Steiner) coupled with the talent to extract it, like Lamine or Messi.

Put the 90s versions of Zidane, Totti, Figo, etc in today's football and they play like 35 year old Isco.

This is the harsh truth. But it is just simpler for fans to say "there is no talents" instead of analyzing it.
I don't blame them though, it is an entertaining industry and you don't need deep understanding for it, "you don't see players who are entertaining anymore = talents have declined" is simple enough for fans to not bother.

In a way, it isn't wrong either, because again, while the level undeniably increased, the question about entertainment remains

Insert "Are you not entertained" meme here

Reportedly handed in a transfer request. Why is he so desperate to switch clubs this summer? Can't he just wait one season.
And Liverpool, are still interested in him. Booohooo!!

Rather he joins Liverpool than Madrid next summer when they punt Vini.

Wirtz, Ekitike, Kerkez, Frimpong AND Isak in 1 window has to be the greatest transfer window of all time on paper right?

That depends what they will achive on the pitch but on the paper it looks strong. The Madrid transfer window in 2009 looked much better on paper anyway.

Will this be the biggest spending spree by a non oil club ever if they really buy Isak? I don't think even us or Madrid ever spent 400+ mil in one window.

AND Guehi, which they will also buy
AND Diaz replacement, if he goes to Bayern

I wonder when Barca is going to have one such window

There is no such thing as natural God-given talent.
It all happens in early early age.
Messi was kicking a tennis ball against 4 walls when he was at his grandmother's place and he was 3 or 4 yrs old
Every talented player you will also find similar stories if you dig

At the same time, it's true that certain things like technique and sense/touch of the ball can't be taught.
But the reason is not that God gave them.
it is that these skills were developed before 10 yrs old or earlier

Of course there is such a thing as god given talent for lack of a better word.

No matter how 10000 kids kick a ball against a wall before 3, they will never be as good as Messi.

He is just naturally more talent.
Like Albert is naturally smart

Then you develop on this God given gifts.

Nah,
this is an old, but misguided view

Interesting data analysis on which clubs Isaak will fit the best from @TheSecretScout on twitter

Liverpool are top right corner, as expected (their data analysts know what they are buying).
Barcelona is high, but interestingly he fits better Madrid and City

Surprising that he does not fit Arsenal so much, out of the top teams

Barcelona don’t need such a window because we already have the best academy in the world and it saved our club numerous times and this helped prevent us from spending exorbitant amounts of money regularly. Bartomeu the Retard went against this and nearly destroyed the club so this proves that we don’t need such a summer.
