9 - Robert Lewandowski

One thing Lewandowski lacks is creativity. Don't know how many assists he has in Barça shirt, probably very small number. Also not sure when did I last see him create a great goalscoring opportunity (except using his movement)

And yet he has around 200 career assists which is pretty great considering he never played alongside a bonafide goalscorer like Messi and Ronaldo.

Playing with Messi gives you numerous undeserved assists regularly.

The best goalscorer RL9 played with was Robben who only got around 15 to 20 goals a season.

Also he creates plenty of chances for his National Team.

The problem is that there's no coming back to the empire that ruled in Europe since 2000s until Messi left which was exceptional and practically non replicable.
It is still far better the way it is now and what it can still accomplish in all competitions in comparison to what became of Manchester United after sir Alex retired.
I think that Lewandowski contributed in that aspect ... somewhat.

Everyone recognizes that this is one of the greatest number 9s ever, and even at his age, he occasionally drops top performances.

It’s just that his rabid fan base/trolls (not necessarily you but there’s Baljeet and Straitjacket) who:

1) blame everyone but “RL9” in a Barca loss
2) credit him as the team’s main driving force in Barca wins (which he just isn’t)

They make this thread unbearable.

I was watching the last Barca match on ESPN with English commentary.
After Lewandowski got his goal, I heard the guy exclaim "that's the best poacher of the last two decades!"
I was taken aback a little not knowing whether I should rejoice or resent.
The word poacher, intuitively, sounds more pejorative and condescending than praising, does it not? It felt like ... he was the best Penalty Box vulture...but that would be very unfair in my book.
To me, a non native English speaker, it sounds phonetically ugly...an ugly English language word....what about you?
Does the word "poacher" denote something rather positive or not?

I think many people use poacher as synonym for striker so dont think commentator had a negative intention with that word. I seperate between poachers (who stays most of the time in the box) and strikers who can participate to the game even without goals like prime Lewy, Benzema, Suarez or Kane. Icardi is a classic poacher imo.
