9 - Robert Lewandowski

Nah. Full well know how he repeats how he is in great shape and takes care of himself. Shows off shirtless in every other team photo.

Basically entire team works for him and his goal tally. He can't hold his own pressing so is a liability defending and doesn't make his teammates better as can't assist. Pick any odd player from any team and likely to have more assists than him.

He's a one trick old donkey benefiting MASSIVELY from the system.

As long as he is quiet (stopped yelling at Yamal) and scores he is tolerable but sure as hell Barca could do better.

Could talk about his inflated wages too. Would free up space for 3 good players easily.
No, he doesn't benefit MASSIVELY from the system. He just plays optimal under any coach that knows how to use classic striker.

Again, you had your troll friends build theories that the team doesn't pass to Lewandowski on purpose, to make Flick stop fielding him. Is that the MASSIVELY beneficial system you speak of?

He doesn't assist, if you assume that his strength is scoring goals, then he should do that, and it's in the interest of the team as well. He actually spoke about it, and the decision making process. Also nature of the beast is, he's more often in a position to score. Exactly the problem with Yamal, if a creator then should do that, and that would be in team's interest.

We shall see what happens if none yells at Yamal, and it's funny you have a problem with Lewy yelling at him, shows exactly why you're here. Also you'd be fuming if it was Lewy not passing to Yamal in obviously better position, and blaming him forever if it was a lost game.

17 yo holy cow, surely going to end well, people say yes selfish but is still young, I say so young and already selfish, ok. I don't care about him though, it's your prospect to ruin, for me just annoying to see when happens, and the double standard from the flash glory hunters.

Inflated wages come from the fact, that he was bought from Bayern who humiliated Barcelona, to create an impression of irresistible pull of a legendary club that transcends any situation or performance, and agent who was fully aware capitalized, or maybe even framed like that from the start. Funny fact it worked btw, with Barca fans the world over announcing loudly and proudly how much bigger a club they are, how obvious it is that Lewandowski would drop anything to come (he came because club was in shambles so opportunity for glory), and I bet I could find some of that from you, if I was bothered enough to search.

Current Messi would have more goals than him still if here as false 9, and who knows how many Yamal would have in addition. If it's a choice between rags and GOAT next season I'd still pick GOAT. But the real solution is a young striker.

But football's so shit we can win a treble with rags and one trick donkey.
Cool! False 9 🐐 or as a 10 in a 334 to give the full backs some R&R would triple our goal tally. 🚜 would morph into Optimus Prime & score a century each year. 👴

If pre-op Haaland before Pepsi Gardenia clipped him into a bonsaï, would've been 200+ goals per season 🦸‍♂️

but it was not to be, c la vie mon ami 🧘‍♂️

Flick knows ball so will want to keep him but kind of hope he leaves this summer so forum narratives of him holding players back and how any half decent striker would do better get debunked like they were when GOATverde left.

I wish he leaves Barca this summer and joins Inter Milan for 2 seasons.

He could easily do it for 2 more seasons in Serie A.

Ballon d'or is generally irrelevant, and he's not going to get it anyway, bar sth crazy like CL final hattrick. One thing how it would matter though, combined with a treble, is by removing all the pressure - to prove himself here, prove himself in general, having last chance maybe etc etc. That combined with the physical fitness, assuming he maintained it for next year, could make for quite a player. But yeah going out on a high note would be great as well, now just a small detail of a treble.

I don't agree with "any striker would do better." I think Lewandowski genuinely is one of the best strikers out there precisely because the talent out there is so shit.

Like yeah you probably wanna get rid of him because you don't wanna rely on a 36 year old striker, in fact I do too but then what. Who would you bring in? Even if you could pick any striker in the world. Can't really think of anyone, can you?

I actually do want to get rid of this guy until I get to the question of: which striker do we bring in? Even a guy like Haaland doesn't excite me all that much.

I think Lewa is one of the best there is only because the competition is so underwhelming.
