No matter how it is done, it is clear he cannot play the amount of minutes he currently does.

Last night he looked like he was 45.

A striker really had to be signed, because we have nobody to rotate him with other than trying people out of role or false 9s. And Ferran and Pau are not good enough there to win the spot off him or compete for it, although Ferran should continue to deputise at striker, I still think he is underrated and could score a decent amount of goals given the chance.

If we want to chase all three fronts we can't afford to mess with tactics unnecessarily. It is a frustrating situation, its clear Flick knows it though and will sub him off early when possible. Raphinha maybe could play striker to give him rest.

Honestly, I think its the opposite, at least here, the forum is full of hate for him and probably overcriticism other than Temptation and co.

He isn't at the top level anymore, that is clear, and his performances in knockouts are mainly due to his regression rather than being the fault of others. Its been the case since he joined that he is not scoring much against the best teams. However its important not to go overboard, he's still a great poacher and will likely win Pichichi again.

I am grateful he is still scoring regularly in the league though and that matters too.

Yeah it is different on here. But this is the only place he is criticised, as I have noted before. This place is an outlier - in the wider world people lick his arsehole. Only here where people watch him every week we see the truth of how bad his all round game is.

Everywhere else people make excuses for his flaws and only wish to see the best in him. He's an extremely popular man who people never wanna admit anything negative about. Unlike say - Cristiano Ronaldo. He's hated apart from his demented fanboys (with good reason) and people go overboard with their hate (even me at times).

People slag off Ronaldo's game and talk up Lewy's even though being realistic Ronaldo was/is a miles better player than Robert. It's about who's more popular, not who deserves the criticism.

Lewy being much more handsome than Ronaldo and a far better person probably plays a part in his popularity too. But that has nothing to do with on the pitch.

Never denied he scores goals. Though he misses a lot of great chances too. He's lucky to play with extremely creative players who provide him with great service. There's other number 9s who could do similarly in this team and not be a black hole in general play.

There's sadly not an ideal way to fix it. Could play Olmo as False 9 or Ferran there as you said, but against certain teams having a proper #9 to pin back the CBs is better.

We really need to sign a striker this summer if we can and the priority need to be Lewandowski's replacement if we can afford it. Next season it is Lewandowski that need to be the player that gets rotated in.

I've never heard of a top European club, or any club at all, to consistentally use a player as bad as Lewandowski has been argued to be here.
What would they do it for? To sabotage their own effort? Cut the bullshit that Flick is sentimental or there are some contractual reasons. If he's that bad, the upper management would have put enough pressure on Flick to drop him long time ago.
Lewandowski himself seeing he's that bad would ask Flick to give him time off. Does the local press say the same negative things about him? I don't think so.

For instance, if Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo or Mo Salah had hung out at Bayern for 8 years flat track bullying, do we think people wouldn't hold it against them? of course they would, because they are less popular than lewy. But because everyone loves Lewy he gets a free pass for this and is lauded for it. But if Messi had done it Temptation would ABSOLUTELY talk about how 'Messi played in a one-team league against far worse teams than his, and generally didn't win the CL other than the COVID season'.

It is something I have noticed about players. Salah is a good example. I have noticed that outside of Liverpool fans it fucking pains people to praise him and admit he's a brilliant player, always coming up with bollocks arguments about his 'flaws'. Claiming he is hardly involved in games, always plays poorly in big games etc. I've watched him loads and It's nonsense and based on popularity, not reality. Lewy is probably rated higher than Salah because he is infinitely more popular and well-liked amongst football fans.

Never underestimate the power of someone liking you and wanting to see only the best in you. Or the opposite. It doesn't just happen with footballers. Happens with actors, singers, reality stars, in real life, everything.

Some people are just more popular than others, often for random reasons. And people hate to praise people they dislike, and hate to criticise people they take a shine to.

Lewy is a beneficiary of this. Everyone loves him so everyone rates him as the best striker ever, or one of them. If he was accused of rape suddenly people would probably start putting down his game to compensate.

This is a striker, a classic number 9, and goals are required of him above all. He can stand still and not move throughout the match, but have the ability to finish the action once or twice, and this is important for the coach and the team, because it gives points. How many such crappy matches have there been for Barcelona, that Lewandowski had to somehow save it? Be objective, Maradona37, and answer, how many such matches have there been?

A stupid comparison, is it better to have a soldier in war, who is well-trained, young, works hard, but is unable to damage the enemy, or an experienced soldier, sluggish, immobile, but who, if we just present an animal, will shoot it?

Always comes back to goals with you.

When will you finally get it? In a big, tight game against equal opposition, the chances and situations will be much fewer far between. In that scenario his racking up goals (mostly against cannon fodder) won't help him.

He won't stand up to be counted when it REALLY counts. It's obvious he will cost Barca at some point, because his all-round game is terrible and he misses more chances than he should.

I don't hate him, he's a good lad and very attractive (probably accounts for much of his popularity).

Would I get on with him and wanna hang out with him if I knew him? Most likely. Would I expect anything of him in a CL Final aged 36? No. They are separate matters.

I understand why he is popular, because he has positive qualities (smart, talented, handsome, decent man, stylish). But people are taking those positive qualities and using them to overrate 36 year old Lewy as a footballer.

I know he scores goals (despite missing a lot too), I know he isn't as bad a footballer as Haaland. But his all-round game has become below average and Flick will pay for standing by Lewy at some point, in my opinion.

I might be wrong, time will tell. Maybe Lewy will put a MOTM performance in in some big games and I will have egg on my face. I will happily admit I was wrong if so (if still on here). Let us wait and see.
