8 - Pedri

Gavi looked like a Kante regen at times before the injury.

And Prime Kante was obviously a cheat code for any manager. Singlehandedly destroyed Kroos Modric Casemiro in both the legs when Chelsea won the CL.

I get why managers love Gavi so much.

No he didnt.

Never looked like Kante or anywhere near as effecitve to date.

Pedri and Gavi have never looked great together and is more midgets in a team already lacking height. That is a big issue with teams face.

Gavi is a decent player and his best position is Pedris.
How tall is FDJ?

Regardless of height, Gavi is definitely way more physical than FDJ.

And everybody here knows how much I like FDJ.

For example, should the third man to complement FDJ & Pedri be more pure AM, or more defensive oriented?

Is FDJ - Pedri enough to cover the midfield, or no. For me, they are not enough defensively. Which is why Olmo and Fermin are more rotation players than starters in a hyphotethically done and set midfield.

Which is why Gavi needs to get his shite together. Get fit, and start claiming the 3rd spot.

He runs around more but I can promise you Gavi could not have taken on Joelinton physically the way FDJ did the other night. He would be scrambling about diving in to early and getting manhandled.

For his age he did. Ofcourse he was never anywhere near Peak Kante but he looked like he had that Kante kinda potential. Don't forget that Gavi was very young.

Not really.

The best young Gavi looked like a harder working Isco really.

As soon as he tried his running about like headless chicken and hard man act his quality dropped if anything.

Kante was more mobile and intelligent with it. Gavi chases anything that moves.

He looked better in pre season and when on v Levante as was a calmer version and more about on ball to me.

Gavi can polish some of his bad habbits. Can grow as a player for sure. He is very young.

Some time can settle the midfield on Pedri - FDJ - Gavi. Which is what fans envisioned many years ago.

He's taking over my social media feed, casual English fans really don't know ball, they are flabbergasted by him vs Newcastle, while for those who watch him, it's basically just another pedri game lol

Just show how EPL closed down those guys are. Really believe the fantasy that EPL has highest talent lol. And they didn't see Yamal playing in England yet.

Maybe vs Chelsea they can enjoy both.

Is he though?

Think you mistake rushing in blindly for being more physical. Even then ends up on ground plenty.

Frenkie stronger on feet and can tell when shielding ball.

I don't think FDJ would get the better of Joelinton physically either.

FDJ is just one of the most press resistant players in the world with excellent technique.

Shielding the ball involves Football IQ, spacial awareness and balance more so than pure strength. Especially in modern Football where the refs protect you more.

FDJ schooled Joelinton because of his talent, IQ and technique not pure physicality. Joelinton is a beast physically.

The running around argument is rather childish. People said the same about Kante initially. Energetic players often look like they're just running around but they are just constantly unsettling the opponents and harrassing them. Gavi at his best disrupted the rhythm of the opponent midfielders.

Good post. It's a matter of channeling the energy in the right direction and encapsulating those qualities in the right framework technically and tactically.

Let Gavi stay fit, really fit, for a full season with Flick and then we will see more about him.

Difficult to know how is Gavi like under Flick because he has been on and off fitness wise. Barely had time to get set. Flick obviously likes him a lot. He praises him constantly.

Lol exactly, the game opened up everyone's 3rd eye in England, I literally can't score without seeing someone talking about pedri or a compilation video.

I said something obvious about pedri, all the talk in the trend, it's like we win the CL.

he's the best in the world bar a fit rodri, it turns into a gavi, de jong, pedri conversation lol.

We can all have our favorites, gavi is my favorite player at Barca by a looooong way.

But the only person who thinks those two are/were better than pedri, must be gavi's parents and de Jong's parents.
