He got couple of reds or penalties last season when he tried to make an interception which probably had an effect on him. Now he just looks too scared to get involved in fear of a mistake. Probably something he needs to work on mentally ASAP.

Seriously, he was the only player who was really bad. Every other player was at least decent.

Normally he should sit on the bench, but there's no one else who could play. Let's face it, Martin is not the solution either. We badly need a top CB. Like really really badly, to the point that I'm convinced this will kill us in CL vs a big team.

Well, that's obvious. In CL you make a mistake or 2 and you're out. Cubarsi is too timid to be a Barca starter. In normal times he'd be on the bench or on loan. Thanks to Laporta and Bartomeu he's become an automatic starter.

Some CBs simply underperform without a leader besides them.

I think the prime example of that is Varane.

Obviously not comparing Varane to Cubarsi, but given his age and how there's no leadership in the defence I'll cut him some slack. I think he need to be the 3rd CB and compete for the second spot next season though, alongside a more veteran top defender.

Development is not linear and it's far from unusual that someone his age have a lot of ups and downs.

Inigo to Araujo for example must be the biggest downgrade ever in terms of leadership. One led with a warrior mentality and smarts. The other is retarded and ran off like a pussy because he made a mistake.

I've been saying this now for some time. Arguably Pique is another CB that played sub-par without a leader next to him.

If we get an experienced CB leader in the mould of Inigo, we might again get the best out of him.

He's a friggin baby. Ditto with the Hujsen guy, who is also shit defender for Real as of now. Both got hyped up for their ''dna'' not so much for being reliable defensive rocks. Both still have leftovers of mothers milk on their lips looking at their child faces. They have long way to go and would never have been starting for teams of such caliber in the pre clown world era.

Bastoni. Please Tebas and Laporte
Bastoni has a 80m market value and 2.5 years of contract left, which means Inter will demand 100m+. There is no realistic scenario we could make a transfer on this scale without having finished the Nou Camp Nou first.

He is a talent. Nothing more, nothing less.

He shouldn't start for a club like Barça so easily because currently it isn't justified by performances but by lack of options.

The fact he has the second highest market value together with Bastoni tells you that things go way overboard with young players.
