There's a balance to be found... its in the Club's best as well to not hand out long contracts. And the good talents won't jump at them anyway, because they know they can get fatter contracts down the line.

It is not so much about handing out long contracts as most of the ones they rate will get 3 years at 16 anyway.

It is about renewing then before get to final year and if they dont agree then look to move them on for value at that point.

Already it has been reported that is what club are looking to do going forward as they themselves see too many players getting to final year and losing control of situation.

Long contracts for youth players is fine. How much do you think they are earning?

Not much. Long contracts for old first team players and paying double or treble what other big clubs pay guys like Ferran is the issue screwing the finances.

Anyone from the Barca board or media saying that the likes of Leverkusen for example, coming in and paying Iker Bravo more than we can afford, is lying through there teeth about the actual issues at the club pay hierarchies

Missing the point.

In theory sure, we should give them long, low contracts, but they - and especially their agents - aren't stupid.

You are missing the point... who is saying the club need to given them longer contracts at 16?

They cant.

Nothing to do with expecting agents to be 'stupid'.

But how come Madrid can manage it? Do they give more opportunies than us.

Nope, just better managed.

Nope, just better managed.

Some examples? They are moderately good at making a profit, but we are infinitely better at actually getting talents to the first team.

Yes...

Renew him each year if can and then 5 years at 18.

Dont let him get to 1 year left and still play them. Renew when balance of power is with the club more than the player.

Again who is mentioning these players being on longer contracts at 16?

Go to Transfermarkt and compare the contract lengths of Castilla and Barca Athletic, and then the Juvenil teams.

You are right (just skimmed through it). Not too bothered about by the players with a contract until 2023 or 2024 though. And lots of obscure players in the Castilla with contracts until 2026/27.

I want to believe we have a more focused approach.

But it is not about giving these players a longer contract it is about renewing them at right time that benefits club and holds balance of power.

If Barca has the league wrapped up with 3-4 matches to go, I really hope he gets some playing time in the first team.
